But UA offers no stops to other European hubs so unless you're going specifically to Paris, people out of SFO have other options.

Having traveled both in window seats and middle seats, we actually prefer the middle pair with the little wall removed. But this is our personal preference.

Rest assured, I considered this. But, I know if I were to take away her window(s) it would not be a good thing! Thanks!

777-300 Old or A380 seat
Which plane has the better seat. 777-300 old seat or A380. Those are my only two choices out of SFO. Seems like I can only get the 777-300 on inexpensive mileage award. Is AF replacing all of their old 777 with the new seats eventually?

The non-BEST B77W have the NEV4 seat, while the A388 have either NEV3 or 4. Not a big difference between the 2, even if NEV4 is slightly better. So in your case if you can have the 77W for a cheap price in miles, go for it and you can always expect a nice surprise with the BEST cabins.

First off, thank you for this thread and info. It is exactly what I need.
I am trying to book a surprise trip for my wife to the Amalfi Coast. Unsurprisingly, I am a huge aviation geek, which means I am researching all the ways we could cross the pond on business class. I have also never flown AF and am well-aware of the new business hard product (and unfortunate delays).
There are two AF flights from KATL-LFPG. AF688 that departs at 8:50 PM (-200ER). Thanks to your thread, I see this has the BEST configuration. The earlier flight, AF681, is a 77W that departs at 5:25 PM. As your thread and the AF booking process shows, this is a non-BEST configuration 77W (screenshot below).
Because we rarely fly international business, and this is our first time on AF, and me being an avgeek, this is a big deal for us. I have reviewed a few pages on this thread and after searching other dates, it appears that this is the config no matter what day of the week we leave.
Our problem: if we opt for 688, we have a 9 hour layover. There are only two flights to Naples - if we take 681 we make the morning flight. 688, and we miss it, and there does not appear to be other airline options.
As I look at possible solutions, I wanted your take (or anyone else) on AF681 this summer and the 77W mods. It seems that without a doubt, the 777-300ERs out of ATL will be the first gen Nev4.
Can you shed any light on this? Absent a last minute equipment change, is there any chance that AF688/89 will get a BEST config'd 77W?
My apologies for the travel agent like question, but this is very important - we really want to fly AF business class. The fares have dropped recently too and I would prefer to figure out if we can still take AF.
THANK YOU to you and anyone else who could chime in)

Well, looks like I jinxed myself. Question might be moot. This morning AF688/89 was a -200ER with the BEST product seat map. This afternoon, 688/89 and 681/82 are showing as -300ERs with the old product. Awesome.

I admit I got a bit lost between your 2 flights from ATL
What I can tell you is that AF688/689 has consistently BEST cabins for about 3 months now, while AF681/682 is NEV4. I fly once or twice a month to a US place without non-stop flight from CDG and I have moved all my transits through ATL via 688/689 to have the BEST cabins. This has also another advantage during the winter months as you have less risks of delays/cancellations because of severe winter weather than in DTW, MSP or CVG.
What does this mean for the coming months, of course I don't know.
note that the B789 (BEST) will operate one of the rotation to ATL from October.

Sorry for any confusion. Enjoy the ATL best routing while it lasts. Looks like the 689/688 leg will be replaced with a 77W in the coming weeks.
I guess I was hoping that there was a chance that AF would have a BEST 77W on one of the ATL flights this summer. I figured if anyone would know, it would be you.
The more I think about it, the less inclined I am to book the NEV4 configured aircraft. Delta is fine, but we have flown Delta One and I really want to try something new (especially a foreign carrier).
If things looked promising regarding the refurbishment schedule, I was thinking that I might roll the dice and book it anyways and hope for an equipment change.
Back to the drawing board.
Thanks so much for the reply.

Having flown in Delta One and NEV4 a lot I'd certainly recommend any Delta One cabin. If you want to experiment with other airlines, do it on TPAC flights (most Asian airlines have very good hard product).

it depends on which aircraft. On the B747, B777 and A330 fleet, the DeltaOne seat is very close to AF BEST seat, although the AF seat is slightly superior IMO. For the 767 fleet, I dislike the DeltaOne seat and much prefer the AF NEV4. So my personal advice to OP if he wants to end up on DL : try to avoid the 767. But all this is 1st world problems

There is also 757 with full flat seats (used on SFO-JFK for instance) and I find that one inferior (it's too short) but you'll probably not see that one competing with AF. But I disagree with Goldorak on 767 though (generally, I guess there are mixed opinions on 767 Delta One vs NEV4).

I find personally the Delta One seat on the 767 to be okay for a direct aisle access seat, and i value it above NEV4 for this reason (the fact that it is full-flat does help). I haven't tried the A330/777/747 seat though.
