AF used to provide quarterly information on routes served by BEST and progress in retrofit. Those turned out to be moderately accurate and with delays in retrofit. For the past year they have plaid the ostrich, being very discrete. They do a lot of local advertising when BEST starts to be used on a destination, but not when it is removed.

All 19 77W supposed to be retrofitted are by now. How many of the 25 772 to be retrofitted remain with NEV4 is unknown. My guess is around 10.

AF is now operating a 772 with BEST on Saturdays on the CDG-SDQ route. I guess this will be only during the winter period (before they used the 747 for the saturday flight during the winter season) and most likely will go back to the COI 77W slaveship.

I have no figures to refer to, but what I can say for sure is that all 77W are not retrofitted. Indeed there are still the COI version around, and even for the non-COI, I can share that I have a booking to GIG in February and the seat map is 2-3-2 so NEV4 (B77W). For ATL, the 1st daily AF rotation is operated by a NEV4 B77W, but on the positive side, the 2nd AF rotation to ATL has BEST consistently (AF688/689).

Dear Goldorak, I stand by my statement. I stated that all 19 77W that were supposed to be retrofitted have been retrofitted. There is no plan to retrofit the others or have deliveries of 77W in BEST. Hence, the retrofit program for 77W is complete. These retrofitted 77W were the ones with old P.

We had lengthy discussions about the fact that only a small portion of the 77W fleet (19/43) was being retrofitted, others having the "leisure" of "COI" config, but that is not the point raised here. Many destinations (like GIG) will get the "leisure (NEV4)" 77W configuration and these have no P.

sorry Brunos, I read your post too fast. I have heard that AF could have decided finally to retrofit all the 77W, with the possible exception of the COI sub-fleet. But, at that stage, this information should be taken with caution.

No problem.

Yes, I heard the same rumor.

But if they do it after completing the A330 and A380 retrofit, it won't start before 2019. AF has time to change its mind (and CEO) several times.

Flying CDG-SFO as well, listed as 777-200. Same question?
It seems all 777-300 that fly to SFO now are NEV4, and as mentioned above, it's unlikely they will refit any more of those. On 777-200 you have better chances, though.

There appears to be an error in the Wiki. Flew 772 F-GSPQ eastbound TATL a couple of weeks ago and was NEV4, not BEST as listed here. Was my first time in AF J and seats were definitely tired and food mediocre. They also forgot to care the cheese course with no explanation/apology. When I booked, the config was BEST and the seat map bounced back and forth with NEV4 as late as 24 hours prior to departure. A shame the whole 777 fleet is not being upgraded.
