Does AF the only airline with this 1-2-1 J cabin which restrict the selection of window seat at the time of booking ? If only we can be different in the good way....
AF10/11 to JFK based on what i know will receive the 4-class cabin in late January (26/01). IAH was supposed to get it in February but it was pushed back to the summer based on Goldorak's post a while back

Question AF # 9 - Additional Question

Can someone confirm that AF # 9 is still the newly config aircraft with the 1-2-1 lie-flat config?

I am booked on AF # 9 April 17 JFK-CDG and I notice that the aircraft has now been changed from a "777-200" to a "777-300ER" and my row has been moved from 1EF to 3EF.

I am trying to confirm that my wife and I will still be together in a 2-seat section in a lie-flat at the front bulkhead of the business class section?

Thanks~

Go to AF.com and look up the seat map for your flight. It will be rather obvious whether you have 1-2-1 or the old 2-3-2 config. That doesn't guarantee it won't change, of course.

New C is available in a handful of the 3 class -200 and 4 class -300W only, so the move from row 1 in a 3 class plane to row 3 in a 4 class plane is consistent.

Sorry to ask a stupid question, how does one check the AF seat map? On DL, I just click "view seats" for any given flight, but I cannot figure out how to do that on AF?
I am able to bring up my AF reservation with the AF PNR and last name, but don't seem to be able to see the map?

It's on "manage my booking" towards the bottom of the page (if you already have seats assigned, just click on the seat numbers, otherwise it is under seat preferences or something like that). It tends to work best on the country version of the website that corresponded to where you booked your ticket (.fr if you bought in France, .co.uk if you bought in the UK etc). You can also check on the KLM website with the same PNR.

So I finally had the chance to have the BEST J cabin on my way back from HND (had NEV4 to go there). Great product. I particularly liked the private storage cabinet, the large tablet (and very easy to deploy), the IFE (but it was not a surprise as I already tried it during my trip in P back from SIN with Olivedel) and of course the seat. But I have to say that I didn't sleep better than on NEV4 in which I have always slept very well. Regarding sleeping position on the BEST seat, I noted that the maximum position was not very confortable for me. I had to go backward just a "drop" to have a better cushioning.

I traveled from HND with some family members who were seating in the middle block of 2 seats and the seat divider used for privacy can be removed very easily by the crew if you ask them. That's what we did and they were able to speak together without problem. In one of the overhead bin, there is a special place for storage of the removed seat dividers.

Will all 77Ws eventually have the new F? I'm wondering about CDG-ICN, which through Dec looks like it's got the 77W with two rows in a 1-2-1 configuration. Thanks

All the 77W with F will ultimately have the new F but it can take years to equip. Many 77Ws will remain without F and it is not excluded that the number of destinations where F is no longer offered may increase in coming years.

That sounds very worrying. I personally do not sleep well at all on NEV4 seat compared to fully flat/horizontal seats on other airlines, and if the new BEST seat is not better for sleeping I am quite worried.

Sadly, my recent AF J trips all had either the old seat or the planned new seat replaced by the old one so I could not try the new one and have decided not to book further long haul J AF trips for the moment as my last few trips were not good at all, and there are too many better alternative available. I was planning to give AF another chance when they get their act together and have equipped enough planes with the new J that one could be confident in getting it with my booking patterns (I usually book trips several months ahead of time).

You should not see it that way. If you don't sleep well at all in NEV4, then it can only be better in the BEST seat

So many airlines have flat beds. If it makes that much difference to you (and I sympathize completely) just call your travel agent with your needs and acceptable options. If time = money, it'll almost certainly end up saving you a bundle of $s and much anguish!
