FlyerTalk Forums Expert How-Tos and Guides
Last edit by: tcook052
This new annual thread has been carved out of the previous thread in an effort to reduce the number of megathreads on the AC forum. For those interested previous versions are the original 2004 - 2014 thread , 2015 edition, 2016 edition , 2017 edition, 2018 edition and 2019 edition.

The original thread started by accident but quickly became a popular place to come and discuss off topic things such as hockey, new movies, or almost anything that wouldn't fit into existing AC forum threads. Air Canada or Aeroplan topics such as flight feedback, in-flight services issues, status or mileage earning/redemption are all topics that should go into existing AC forum threads so others can benefit from this information. Topics about hotels or airlines and/or their loyalty programs, destinations, in-flight travel tech. or anything best discussed elsewhere on FT may be relocated to that forum as this thread isn't meant to import travel topics to this forum that are better discussed on other forums. FT is an amazingly diverse and large community so members are encouraged to seek out all of its resources.

While the conversation is more relaxed as it would be in a lounge that doesn't mean however that the FT rules don't apply here as they definitely do so please refrain from controversial topics such as politics or religion, avoid profanities and treat other lounge patrons with the same respect you expect.

I grabbed a bottle of the Glenfiddich IPA cask finish at the SFO duty free store this week. As a beer geek, I am intrigued. Has anyone tried it?

Yup. I wasn't a fan. But I hate IPAs, so maybe that wasn't surprising

I got one of these from one of my ex-protegees as a thank you for some career advice.

Like Adam, I didn't really like it but I'm also not a fan of IPAs either.

Yup I tried it too. I think its part of their experimental series. It was OK but nothing to write home about.

I’ve decided to make it my life’s mission to teach people the benefit of letting everyone get out of the elevator before they try to force their way on. Jeebus.

I had a shot of the winter storm from the same series while visiting a friend; it was very fruity and sweet (but in a good way). Was overall impressed till i came to know the price - lol.

Won't pay that premium for that drink. My taste buds aren't that refined yet to justify the price tag

Can you add the Skytrain to your mission as well?

Wait, what? There is a Glenfiddich barrel aged IPA? That's just wrong. Stout or imperial stout, fine, but not an IPA. Someone wasn't thinking right.

On another note, Uber was $32 to New West with at 18 min wait at YVR Friday morning. I'll stick to EVO for now (assuming there are cars - there were 47 at ParknFly).

I can't remember the last time I arrived at YVR and was legal to drive.

YVR to Pac Rim is quoting at $28 right now. But then I'd just take the train for something like that. It's more interesting when I need to get from somewhere like the Do to my hotel, without getting soaked in the rain while waiting for a taxi to show up.

There's been many times that I've taken the last flight from Toronto to Vancouver, which arrives after the Canada Line closes, and ended up waiting 30+ minutes for a cab. It's not a lot of fun at 1:30am.

Really?! I've luckily not had that! A lack of EVO has meant $60 vs $13, but never a lack of cabs. Note to self - avoid that flight.

Just had a 30+ minute wait for a cab at YVR. Was disappointed there were "no cars available" on Uber

Gone way too soon. I did like the tribute from the Raptors and Spurs game today, Spurs, Raptors honor No. 24 Kobe Bryant with shot-clock violations to start
