I am fully aware the new rate will be adapted since Dec. 15th so I was trying to ticket some coming trips last night before the dead line. But I just found out all my tickets between Tokyo ( Asia 1) & Bangkok (Asia 1 on old rate ) and Hong Kong (Asia 1) & Singapore ( Asia 1 on old rate) are quoted 60K, instead of 30K. Obviously Aeroplan has silently move Thailand and Singapore from Asia 1 to Asia 2 even before the date they announced. That is a new low of Aeroplan to play dirty! I am just so fed up with this airline/ frequent flyer program that I have been loyal for the past 10 years.
So I would rephrase that you are upset with Aeroplan (which is a rewards program, the Frequent flyer program is Altitude)

There's discussion of this which would tend to suggest it is an error/incompetence rather than design, and that people are having some success getting things fixed. Good luck!

Ah, so recall how the 15% off promo from a few weeks ago was supposed to be valid until 11:59 pm that particular day. I was in the middle of paying for a ticket and got kicked out of the booking process. Went back in and promo was gone.
I called AC and said excuse me but it says 11:59 pm EST. It is only 11:00pm EST. Agent apologized, nothing he can do (DUH).
I don't trust them, so I grabbed another nice booking that would have been significantly more on Dec 15, but earlier than the 14th.

Not that I disagree with you that if they did this it's dirty, I feel I should mention before you get roasted that Aeroplan and Air Canada are not the same at all, not the same company, and will likely split partnerships as soon as they can.

But what are you mad at Air Canada and Altitude for? Since they don't have anything to do with this change makes little sense to me to blame them for it.
I mean I'm not happy that my taxes went up this year, but I don't go around blaming my bank for it.

it was not a simple process at all... if only their IT worked as advertised
after pointing out their own announcement that the mileage levels and travel zones should have been raised at the same time, she bought my argument, took me 2 hours total to get this fixed (85% holding)
it's abundantly clear the adjustments were somehow incorrectly implemented in phases with travel zone changes done at midnight GMT and revised mileage levels done post maintenance (after midnight EST), why was it done in such a manner is a mystery

a) you could have argued the PNR was created before the deadline (which it clearly was)
b) you could certainly have received a free cancellation.
Aeroplan has its ups and downs, and I *hate* the constant devaluations - don't get me wrong - but one thing they have been fairly good at is honouring mistakes and their screwups. So as posted above by wwtsang, they would've honoured your prices with no problem (unless you didn't have enough miles in your account - that's another story, I suppose).

No. What I mean is that while they officially say tickets can be cancelled only 22 days out and more, in reality, this has always been a cash grab - if you're willing to pay $180, you could always cancel 2 hours in (by calling, first moving your ticket to another date more than 22 days out, and immediately cancelling it).
I suppose there were the odd cases where your PNR was 11 months old and you literally had no space to push out the ticket, but those are fringe cases. For the majority, cancellation of any ticket within 2 hours has always been available for $180.

They've had the chance many times over the last 12 years or so. Have you been talking to Miss Cleo again?

I am unable to check with my PNR on air aircanada.com. I get a message saying it is not an air canada booking.

AP must be having some serious dinero problems when a chart goes from 30k biz class from Asia 1 to Asia 2 to 80k!
No wonder I quit AP/AC. Dreadful.
This program is broken.
