Might just be I lucked out in my case and got an agent who wasn't a stickler for the rules although what the AE rules are is as clear as the we-can't-really-tell-you-what-they-are rules for MPM these days.My experience did match post #254 though of course AE is almost always YMMV:

Sorry to hear that.

Noooo. I was counting on the fact that they wouldn't charge extra. I just booked an Asia 1 trip without knowing my final trip details. I wonder if they will charge extra if you flip the cities, like ICN-BKK to BKK-ICN?

When were you told that though? I don't recall them mentioning anything about city changes when I asked them what changes would result into additional mileage being charged...

I would think yes, because this will result in an itinerary change I presume... i.e you will have to take a flight from ICN to your next destination (you previously didn't have this on your itinerary).?

well if you have a BKK-ICN RT booked and want to "flip it", maybe it's easier to just move the date of one of the flights past the othr? that flips the flights without city changes too... :P

If I remember correctly I had called AE a few times prior to December 15 and talked to 3 different agents about making changes (not including zone or class changes). 2 of them said there would be no extra miles while the other said extra miles would be required.

I wouldn't have it any other way. Escalate to a supervisor if you have to. Line agents are completely clueless half of the time.

I would try but I don't think it would help.

From my Aeroplan contact:
If you're getting charged more miles, please send me a DM and I might be able to help.
if you make changes on or after Dec 15th, all change requests requiring a change to the “reward code” will be subject to the new revised mileage levels. For example, a change from economy to business class or a change from North America long-haul to Europe 1. For changes that consist of flight time, flight date or routing that do not include a change to the origin and destination or the reward code, mileage levels will remain the same. In the case of a mileage level decrease, changes will not be applied at the lower mileage levels.

This has been hinted at and brushed on, but I just want to make sure this is accurate...
I have to change the date on a Euro award (same O&D) and am within 21 days. Does a cancelled ticket behave the same way it did if i were just making a normal date change? Once it's cancelled, can I expect the same pre-devaluation rate of 45,000 miles once I reinstate it?
Thanks
