Dates in brackets indicate planned start of rouge service (either as a new route or replacing mainline service). ML placed before a date indicates the date that service is reverting to mainline.
All Airbus A319/A321 service is in the new Premium Rouge configuration with 2x2J seats. All other routes are Boeing 767-300ER aircraft in a 24J/258Y layout.
Airport codes in blue indicate that these routes are Boeing 767-300ER aircraft for all services.
Airport codes in red indicate that these routes are split between Boeing 767-300ER and Airbus services.
Airport codes in black indicate that these routes are Airbus aircraft for all services.
Routes are organized based on the established rouge bases of YYZ, YUL, YYC, and YVR

My comparison would be the difference between taking a city bus and a greyhound bus. Both kinda suck (in economy), but the level of discomfort you get from being crowded into a city bus for a long trip vs a greyhound bus for a long trip... actually has more to do with your fellow passengers than the product.
I would personally take the layover for mainline.

I see that AC will be flying a rouge 763 and rouge 319 daily to Barbados this winter (as well as a 319 out of YUL 3 days a week). Would it not make more sense to go back to the 777 instead on using two aircraft?

Sorry, dude, I think that one time you had the 772 was one and only time you were going to get it.

Considering the 77L that operated the route has 300 seats vs the 416 that a rouge 767 + 319 offers, No.

But I did see Toronto-Dublin return in Rouge for under $450..hard to say that is not value.

And your point is? 400 seats is 400 seats. AC seems to think they can fill 400 seats on two planes rather than use one and then there are the the seats from YUL 3 days a week. Why wouldn't they direct YUL passengers through YYZ? AFAIK there are no other airlines flying direct, non-stop YUL-BGI so no competition.

and there's enough demand to offer non-stop service from YUL which offers better costs to AC then routing pax via YYZ for the same fare.

A few years back (sorry can't remember the year) we had a mainline 767 and 319 during the Winter season. I believe it was for only on season.
Is the Montreal flight mainline or Rouge?

It will be interesting to see how many of the 416 seats they can sell and what it does to the yield.

Yes it will be interesting. I was surprised with the announcement since the CDN dollar is lower than in 2013, when they had the two flights/day (I think) and with the Bajan dollar tied to the USD, Barbados has not become cheaper.

I was just looking for a flight from Toronto to Barcelona and saw that Rouge appears to be my only non-stop option. I've seen all the reviews saying avoid Rouge like the plague but my only other option would be to spend $100 more to have a 4 hour layover in Frankfurt. Is Rouge's economy really that much worse than regular economy?
Actually good experience, IFE worked on my Android tablets/laptoo
so I'd recommend it for you also
