Flights operated by Air Canada rouge

NOTE: Rouge Wifi information can be found here

Dates in brackets indicate planned start of rouge service (either as a new route or replacing mainline service). ML placed before a date indicates the date that service is reverting to mainline.

All Airbus A319/A321 service is in the new Premium Rouge configuration with 2x2J seats. All other routes are Boeing 767-300ER aircraft in a 24J/258Y layout.

Airport codes in blue indicate that these routes are Boeing 767-300ER aircraft for all services.
Airport codes in red indicate that these routes are split between Boeing 767-300ER and Airbus services.
Airport codes in black indicate that these routes are Airbus aircraft for all services.

Routes are organized based on the established rouge bases of YYZ, YUL, YYC, and YVR

Flight to to EDI only 6Hr+ however just having hand wipes not satisfactory!
11 hours for Athens is even worse! We arrived at E81 I believe, so if you left from there it would make sense as the same plane. Not good.

Why do they keep identifying Rouge as a low-cost airline, and saying passengers are getting cheaper fares for their Rouge seats? They're not. I did a quick search for a one way flight from Toronto to 10 destinations that Rouge services, and in only one was Rouge the cheaper alternative.

Low cost for Air Canada, not low cost for tickets.

1. Bolding mine

2. Answer: because they can
rouge seats have never been cheaper than mainline* and there are 241 pages in this thread containing 5,000+ posts, at least a few of which have mentioned this not insignificant detail <insert sarcasm>

3. While an interesting read, the article is written by Canadian Press for the publication in general interest newspapers, albeit the business section. Those who read FT and other well-known travel sites understand the concept of rouge better than the average consumer.

4. The RaymondJames PDF was posted the other day in this forum. It was a more interesting read than the drive-by quotes used in this article. (IMO)

5. As always, one can contact the writer and point out these differences.
@RossMarowits on Twitter

EDIT: * although I am sure there are some who would argue otherwise

I have no real opinion on whether rouge is a success (a term that can be measured in many different ways). As has been mentioned on this forum far too many times to count, the consumer has a choice on which airline to fly.

Not a rouge fan, but when I search for flights to major cities in Florida, Rouge always comes up as one of the cheaper options.

That could have potential implications across the airline's network, he wrote in a report, adding it may be cheaper to buy a Rouge ticket to Gatwick from Winnipeg and get off in Toronto, than to fly on the mainline carrier between Winnipeg and Toronto.
Now that would be an interesting hidden city ticket!

It would say a lot about AC domestic pricing though should it ever be cheaper to go Winnipeg-London than Winnipeg Toronto.

It is a theoretical possibility that YWG to LHR all on mainline would be cheaper in some cases than YWG to YYZ.

According to the Bens, there is already lots of competition in the domestic market so fares must have already hit rock bottom

Rouge only flies to 2 cities in Florida, so if you were looking at a bunch of major cities in Florida, most were probably mainline fares.

Still, it will always vary based on dates and routes. I checked 10 Rouge-serviced destinations in the US and Caribbean, all on the same day, to compare.

Rob Lowe celebrates Air Canada 'victory'

http://www.ctvnews.ca/entertainment/...tory-1.2452096

Rob Lowe is celebrating a minor Air Canada victory after publicly mocking a lack of legroom on a flight in 2014.

A year ago, the actor poked fun at the airline’s low-cost carrier "Rouge" on Twitter when he commented on social media about the small seats on his flight from Vancouver to Los Angeles. He also mocked the cabin crew's "jaunty hats," which he compared to an outfit singer Justin Timberlake would have worn in 2005.

On Thursday night, Air Canada Senior Director of U.S. Sales Patrick Khoury tweeted at Lowe to inform him that the airline had decided to reintroduce larger seats on their Rouge planes.

Flying YVR-LAS on August 2nd on Rouge. Prebooked 4 AC outbound and for the return on August 6th.

Due to the "J" cabin reconfiguration, the rows were renumbered and we lost our preferred seats and were shuffled around to the back in different rows and seat positions with no regard for status. Preferred seats are all gone due to reassignments. Now, I have spent the better part of 2 hours jumping back and forth between aeroplan and aircanada because they are playing the blame game.

Good times...

It is nice that the article conveniently leaves out this this is a "business class" cabin reconfigure and Economy is not changing.
