Flights operated by Air Canada rouge

NOTE: Rouge Wifi information can be found here

Dates in brackets indicate planned start of rouge service (either as a new route or replacing mainline service). ML placed before a date indicates the date that service is reverting to mainline.

All Airbus A319/A321 service is in the new Premium Rouge configuration with 2x2J seats. All other routes are Boeing 767-300ER aircraft in a 24J/258Y layout.

Airport codes in blue indicate that these routes are Boeing 767-300ER aircraft for all services.
Airport codes in red indicate that these routes are split between Boeing 767-300ER and Airbus services.
Airport codes in black indicate that these routes are Airbus aircraft for all services.

Routes are organized based on the established rouge bases of YYZ, YUL, YYC, and YVR

Suppose this means we won't be seeing so many glowing reviews of B6 and detailed pictures of JetBlue Mint around here?

Kinda makes sense, the airline that sells Mint transcon for $699 does so because they have to. And when they do, they don't make money. Anxious to make make money, they either charge more (they would if they could) or they cram more seats in and charge the same.
Wonder if the B6 forum is alive with know betters telling them what mistakes they're making, all the passengers they're losing .... a la first 100 pages of this thread.

To answer your question, here's one from their forum (I'm still trying to stop laughing).

Wait, sounds like I've read this somewhere else....hmmmmmm LOL

This'll make next year an interesting year for me. Almost five years running I've always flown B6 over the competition. Might be time to just start buying by price.

JetBlue - the airline with a loyal fan base and admired brand recognition is only able to achieve 6% ROIC. Wow.
Guess new Execs at JetBlue are fine letting another airline win the "Brandie" and "Marketing" awards this year while they look to strengthen their bottom line at the expense of passenger comfort and happiness
Sounds like 2011 Air Canada

Just curious....do these planes fly to "enhancing" empty?? Or do they have really special fares on these flights??

I assume the reference to B6 in this thread is intended to prove that Rouge is indeed a wonderful product and a smart business decision because JetBlue are now Rouging themselves too?

Umm, here's an excerpt from one of the articles:

JetBlue also will add more seats to its Airbus A320 aircraft, with the retrofitting expected to begin in mid-2016, according to the airline. Once refitted with newer, slimmer seats, the capacity of those planes will jump to 165 from the current 150. The average "seat pitch" -- or a standard measure of distance between seats -- will decline to about 33 inches, down from more than 34 inches currently.

Wow. A 33" pitch. Their customers will fit quite comfortably in their planes. That certainly sounds like vindication for Rouge to me.

(Not to continue this off topic tangent, but B6's challenges are typically attributed to their thin network and sparse frequencies. Not that they don't offer Spirit/Allegiant/Rouge cabin discomfort.)

I am amazed when I see posts defending rouge. How is a degraded uncomfortable product that is sold at the same price as mainline good for the consumer in any way?

How can one logically defend paying the same for less???

Because the alternate was cancelling the flight. It boils down to a question of paying the same for less, or having no flight.

So even with the enhancements JetBlue will still have a 33.1" seat pitch on its A320s? WOW! Rogue is a disgusting 29" on the A319s is it not?

Quite.

I flew Rouge for the first time yesterday but used my pile of eup credits that I can no longer use on TATL travel, to upgrade to Premium Rouge so it was at least tolerable. It's the offering a low cost carrier experience (although even Ryanair in Europe has 1" more seat pitch than Rouge), at the mainline price that really rankles.

Not really, I posted the JetBlue headline and quote from their thread because they were funny. To me.

I left it up to you all to interpret it how you wish.

ACrouge and JetBlue are nothing alike. IMHO....while I never disagreed with the idea of AC having another LCC (I still have an old Tango Air ticket in my files), your point about the non-LCC pricing, coupled with the cabin/flight experience of many, will determine success or failure. And most important, the cm of snow we receive.

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but are there any plans for the A330s to get transferred to Rouge as well? They are slowly getting up there in age and with AC getting 787s pretty regularly now, combined with the 777s, is there a need for them at mainline?

The answer to that is No...and Yes. So I would answer NYes...

Initially only the 767 were to be transferred to Rouge.

The A330s have been scheduled to install a PE section to make the entire wide-body product consistent.

However, some of the language in the most recent agreement with the Pilots seems to allow AC to transfer them to Rouge, so there is a door open on that front.

Clear as mud... I know.
