Dates in brackets indicate planned start of rouge service (either as a new route or replacing mainline service). ML placed before a date indicates the date that service is reverting to mainline.

All Airbus A319/A321 service is in the new Premium Rouge configuration with 2x2J seats. All other routes are Boeing 767-300ER aircraft in a 24J/258Y layout.

Airport codes in blue indicate that these routes are Boeing 767-300ER aircraft for all services.
Airport codes in red indicate that these routes are split between Boeing 767-300ER and Airbus services.
Airport codes in black indicate that these routes are Airbus aircraft for all services.

Routes are organized based on the established rouge bases of YYZ, YUL, YYC, and YVR

West Jet to reduce fares

Pardon my cynicism, but I believe that has more to do with current fuel prices than un-bundling bag fees.

Either way, its the final price that counts, so all the ad-speak and market-reasons doesn't really matter in the end.

Who says? AC has maintained that Premier Rouge and Business Class on mainline AC is the same and that is why we have to pay the same price to fly on Premier Rouge as we do for AC Business Class.
On a different note my last Premier Rouge flight was worse than the previous one. I don't intend to post my comments as IMHO AC is not interested in doing anything. Remember they introduced Rouge as the costs are significantly less than regular flights.

Wow, rouge is the ebola of the airline industry. I would have never thought that we would see it in South America.

Rouge tidbits from Calin's call w/ analysts this morning.

- The Montreal-based company said it expects capacity, or available seat miles, to rise between 9 and 10 percent in 2015, with 55 percent of the growth coming from Rouge.
- "Rouge has been more successful than we expected," said Chief Executive Calin Rovinescu (Nov 6, 2014)
- Benjamin Smith, Air Canada's president of passenger airlines, said the company could react quickly and slow down capacity growth if demand softens.
- "We view the expansion of our international and leisure businesses as building blocks for making Air Canada sustainably profitable," CEO Calin Rovinescu

There's the kicker for AC; the planes are probably paid for and parking them for a few days a week, or even months at a time has little or no cost associated with it.

Not sure that's a viable option for them ... I took Ben's comments to mean they have a very flexible arrangement w/ Boeing and can defer deliveries without much (any) penalty. You might be right, though.

Either way, I found comfort in it as an investor b/c I can't get my head around how fast AC's system ASMs are rising ...

To my knowledge, this is the first time AC has added narrow body planes (with the exception of the Jetz converted to ML service) in a long time.

Since 16 319s and 8 767s have been converted to Rouge, that means mainline will be down about 12 narrow body planes when the 321/320/777 arrive.

One must logically assume that the lowest margin routes were 'Rouged' and if the economy tanks, the leisure-type routes (read low margin/more price sensitive) are the first to fall. I read a background article on Allegiant and their CEO said that they park their planes for 2-3 days a week to avoid flying them at low loads.

Sounds to me AC took a page out of the Allegiant book on that side, and it makes sense. I'm just wondering where one can park 10 A319s and 4 767s on the cheap?
