Mission Statement
The mission of FlyerTalk has always been to enrich the knowledge of travelers when it comes to the topic of frequent flyer miles and points. Over the years, members have extended that mission to include the general topic of travel. In addition, common interest in these topics has lead to a vast number of social outings and networking opportunities that we call "Do's." We're extremely proud of the positive impact we've had in our members' lives.

But FlyerTalk is not just about networking about miles, points and travel. It is also about taking an interest in others and being supportive. Because of this, FlyerTalk has long engaged in giving programs. We were among the very first travel Web site of any kind to raise money toward the relief efforts after 9/11 and did the same when a devastating tsunami hit Southeast Asia in 2004. After 9/11, we raised more than $25,000 within days and after the tsunami hit, we once again gathered forces to help those in need.

We receive a lot from FlyerTalk, but we also give. When a fellow member hit hard times in 2006, and was forced into a homeless shelter, we stepped right up and donated hundreds of thousands of hotel points resulting in weeks of restful hotel room stays so the member could prepare for job interviews to reenter the work force. These are just some examples of the FlyerTalk community giving back to the larger community.

FlyerTalk giving programs come in many different forms. Our members are constantly involved in local and international efforts to raise awareness in five central areas: programs that benefit children, the arts, literacy and education, improve the quality and access to basic human services and health and medical research.

Also, we invite you to contribute to our general FlyerTalk Cares fund that gives the resources at the direction of the member-elected TalkBoard. FlyerTalk Cares - The General Fund

Note: When you donate to the general fund of FlyerTalk, 100 percent of your donation goes toward the board's programs of choice. FlyerTalk has always covered the expense of credit card transactions - meaning that if you donate $25 to FlyerTalk Cares - the entire $25 will go to the program that the TalkBoard decides needs our support. All Web sites that collect funds for donations via a credit card charge two to five percent or even more to process the payments. FlyerTalk pays the processing cost in support of our members' donations. Just like we all come together to post on FlyerTalk to create the best travel Web site on the Internet, we all work together creating programs that make a difference in the lives of others.
