Well US did call LX. To my surprise, LX said no. They told US to book me on MIA-ZRH. Thankfully, US was willing to open up 2 F seats from PHL-MIA for me, so now it's final. PHL-MIA-ZRH. Now I just gotta try UA, to see if I can change my brother's ticket to connect in MIA too.

Anyone has experience in changing a segment's class after departure?
Say I book an F award and fly the outbound segments, then later O inventory opens up, can I call and move from I to O?

No changes after travel has commenced - US strict policy.

Already there, 5A/B. The worst part is I had a choice of a 1 hour or 6 hour connection in MIA. Being December in PHL, I opted for the 6 hour layover. *A lounge finder says no lounges in MIA. Is that really true?

Forget it! Out of my experience they won't do that! They follow the rules, that the issueing carrier is responsable for any rebooking befor the flight...
And US will not call LX, even if LX promises to open up space on the new flight connection... I am wondering, why US charges a booking fee, if they don't do their job with the booking as they should?

Yes. The ticket no longer exists in the US system or at least I can't find it. I'm sure this is an unusual situation but gives credence to the agent-shopping method.

As I posted earlier, this method just worked for me on a us air award ticket on UA. UA cancelled and initially told me to talk to US. US couldn't find the availability I wanted so I kept calling UA until they opened up two revenue seats in F for my wife and I. Interestingly enough, the ticket is no longer a UA ticket. In the accommodation process the agent pulled the ticket over to the UA system.
I called LH and they apologized and rebooked me with no hassle using revenue seats.

A while ago I booked YYZ-PHL-CDG return for the next winter, operated by Air Wisconsin/US, at Off-peak saver rates. Now the schedules have changed slightly and "I don't accept these changes / Accept changes" button shows on the reservation.
What are my chances of calling and getting direct YYZ-CDG AC operated flights instead (award availability permitting) without repricing?
