I thought it interesting that I wasn't even offered the chance to buy up to F on BWI-ORD-SLC on Friday, considering on the 757 BWI-ORD, F was only half full and there were empty seats on the 737 for ORD-SLC. Might have considered it if Mr. Easy had offered it, but he didn't.

It does happen and there is no prohibition in the UFC profile against it. If not offered ask at check-in and/or the gate. UFC is prohibited on upgraded flights - double upgrade rule.

I believe that all the seats in E+ are both ascent and descent seats.

26-Aug-2008, IAD-CDG, $654 offered from Y-Cabin to C-Cabin. I took it becuase it was essentially a red-eye preceeding a day/night full of meetings. Otherwise I would have declined as it's over my [irrationally defined] $500 limit.

Full meals served (including Sandemans with dessert) by the way.

Is there any way to retry for the paid upgrade after you completed OLCI (and didn't get the upgrade offer) but before you go to the airport and attempt via Mr. Chicken?

Not in my experience trying to do it a while ago on a W fare. I was told it could only be reticketed at significant cost.

Mr Chicken didn't offer it to me either actually, I had to get a GA to do it.

SFO to PVG paid upgrade of $689 E+ to Business

I purchased tickets through Wendy in TX at a great price of $1081 including the $400+ in taxes. Plane is empty and was offered $689 upgrade, all the best seats were taken but ended up in row 25. Hopefully we can upgrade on the way back as well.

EZE-IAD paid L class, Y->C u/g for $630

Flying from EZE-IAD, accepted u/g from Y to new configuration C for $630 (ARS 1900). Money well spent, given that I finaly got to experience the new C-class seats.

CDG to ORD, 400 Euros, Y-Cabin to C-Cabin. Accepted.

Upgrade not offered via OLCI at ~20 hours prior. I asked at in-person check-in (17 hours later) and the agent had no idea what I was talking about ("paid upgrade"). Fortunately, my colleague also asked and he was at the agent right next to me. His agent offered him the 400 Euro deal. So my agent was able to get the appropriate instructions from my colleague's agent and we were good to go!

C-Cabin was about 60% full (767, Old C Seats).

Folks,

how much would be an UG from IAD to FRA from paid C to F?
What's the chance to get one and can I ask for the UG in advance?

Does United have the new C Class between IAD-FRA???

Markus

Last time I flew IAD to FRA was in May and asked about paid upgrade when I checked in. I was told about $500 or 550ish from Y to C. I was flying on a B fare and just paid $320 for a 77lbs case too, so I decided just to suck it up in Y.

I got my first buy-up at airport on LH. Although not UA, I thought it's a good comparison.
It's an 8 hours flight (I think?) from Mumbai India to Franfurt, Germany. It only cost a little more than $400 USD!
