021 is a reconfigured Polaris 777 with 3-4-3 in the back. The only non-Polaris 777 eligible to return (i.e, not PW-powered) is N77014, which was going to be the last GE 777 to go for the mod. It is also (reportedly) due for a lease return and may be leaving the fleet at some point... for now it's still stored at ROW.

Given the slower than expected roll out of vaccines in most of Europe and the continued high 7 day incidence rate, I don't see most of Europe opening up for mass tourism until late summer at best.

I Found 5 of them

Parked in HNL on the taxiway that is parallel to the route out to the reef runway.

Apparently no rush to get those planes back in service - which is great news for SFO fliers to HNL (and I'm sure other routes) with the polarized 777-200 taking its place.

I take those are 777HD?
Do the planes eventually need to be flown to another location for the engine work to be performed?

How long before the high humidity of HNL starts to do damage?

UAL would love to have those planes in service ASAP. The problem is P&W is having to do inspections of each blade and coming up with a solution to prevent the issue going forward. And Boeing’s cowling issue may also be contributing. Right now all four parties (UAL, FAA, P&W, Boeing) are working the issue. How long that will take is the big unknown.

all grounded 777’s are planned to be ferried to ROW via special ferry permits.

Not quite the point. California-Hawaii are CPU eligible. Premium transcon, not so.

One of the big appeals of Hawaii is the lack of high humidity mitigated by trade winds.

I could see the salt air taking its toll though.

It's exactly the point for those who pay to sit up front.
