AA has opened the Flagship Lounge space as an add-on to the Admiral's Club at LAX. It's really nice to have that extra space, even if food and beverage are AC level only.

I was considering a UC membership, but with so few clubs open, pointless to pay for it. Maybe if they offered it as a 50% sale. Just unfathomable to ask people to pay full price to join right now with most clubs shuttered.

(I understand for those that are already members, they have been extending membership which is good, and I'm glad they are doing that.)

Saw those cheddar cheese sticks at EWR a few days ago, which was about the only new item that I recall compared with the previous visit.

You can use miles at 1.5cpm rate to statement credit if purchased on a Chase MP card.

.
My reasons for getting the new UC card:
#1-No annual fee the first year. (Cancel durimg your 11th month. Then wait another 13 months and apply again.)
#2 Intro mileage bonus
#3-UA travel benefits
#4-UC membership

i would get the card once every 25 months even without the UC membership, just for the points. Think of it as a one year no annual fee card.

i appears the UC no longer confers Hyatt Discoverist status. That was one of my original reasons to get the card instead of continuing to pay cash for UC membership.

If you get the business UC card, it is 1.5 miles per dollar spent by default (specific spend categories earn more). If you do a significant $$ spend each month, it really adds up. When my kids were in college, I made out lake a bandit.

This used to be pretty good earn for general spend. It no longer is. Due to both MP devaluations and the proliferation of more generous credit card options.

You are correct for the personal UC card. But the business UC clab card still earns 1.5 miles per dollar. Hopefully the following link is not targetted as I was logged on to the UA site when getting it.

Some of the Chase products offer 3 miles per dollar on travel & dining and a 1:1 transfer to UA. So for that sort of spend if it's UA points you're after you'll be earning twice as much.

re: the UA clubs, It's well past the time when UA should have answers about reopening. Flights are FULL. Many airports are feeling full, too. What are they waiting for? They should at least announce sme target dates. It won't put them at any more of a competitive disadvantage than they already are at -- and it might at least make some customers hopeful.

TSA numbers are just under 60% of equivalent 2019 timeframe. The March ramp-up to Easter has flatten during April. Business travel is still mostly on hold.

Some routes may be more active than others.

Airlines are just turning cash flow positive but are not yet profitable by a longshot.

However, given the actions of DL/AA, it would be reasonable to expect for UA to provide better guidance on the UC's reopening.

New FT member, LONG time lurker and first post! I've been an UC member since 2015. I was celebrating my birthday last week with my brother. We had an hour to burn so we stopped by the IAH E11 location. Celebrated with two Moets and on the second round of comp drinks we were told we could not order drinks for another hour. I've never heard this before. Witnessed many times over the years people filling half gallon water bottles with G&T's and the loud stag party types stumbling out after missing their flights. I've noticed after this that all comp items are now entered into tablets by the bartenders. Is this new? Are they tracking peoples consumption. Airlines and lounges are my beach and my little happy place. Just the quite guy in the corner.

I hate to be ignorant here, but does the personal UC card no longer earn 1.5 miles per dollar?

Not sure if they grandfathered some cards, but the current offering is 1 mile per dollar for general spend:
https://creditcards.chase.com/travel.../club-infinite
UA purchases get 4 miles per dollar, but in my personal valuation that is really barely equal to the 2 miles per dollar of a few years ago.
