I would imagine LAX's PL lounge would be the last to open since that PL only caters to United flights (unless you enjoy a hike). But if ORD PL is looking likely to open in the fall, then might gamble and pull the trigger on the Jan TK flights out ORD then just for fun. Can't gamble on SFO or IAH. Go big or go home.

Just a heads up, after being frustrated for the last 3 plus months, I finally emailed Toby about it and received the following information back regarding UC's opening.

Mr. Nevans,

Thanks for your email and we appreciate your business and loyalty. You make some really good points and I agree with you. Hence, I confirmed with the club team that we are beginning to open up our clubs back and you should see them first open in our hubs very soon (next few weeks). I further can share with you that we are currently targeting the Portland club to open up a little later this summer either July or August pending our final flight schedule.

Additionally, we are planning on adding back improved food choices in our domestic FC cabin in June on routes over 1,500 miles and we will also offer touchless new buy onboard items in economy on those same routes.

Hope that is helpful information.

Thanks again and have a nice weekend.

Toby

Reads like UA might open additional Clubs at hubs in next couple of weeks, but non-hubs will be waiting until summertime.

I'm most interested in seeing LAS re-open, but I bet UA sees the Club members being impacted by that closure minimal until convention business cranks up again. Seems like UA is happy to just provide Club access to mainly at connection points (w/ hub residents benefiting).

Great news to hear. Some of these hubs could really use a second UA club. With DL having all clubs reopened by end of summer, hopefully the announcement alone will make UA kick it into another gear with some of those outstation clubs at least

Flying EWR-BRU (and beyond) June 13. Hope EWR Polaris lounge opens by then. Or any other lounge for that matter. It's a first for me. I confess to being a OneWorld guy but for a June trip to Africa, *A worked out much better in terms of routing and fares.

One United Club is already open, but sub-par experience. Usually crowded and poor food choices. Drink options are OK, not stellar.

I am very doubtful that the Polaris Lounge would be open by then.

DL (along with AA) has had most of its clubs open throughout. That hasn't impacted UA's approach, as UA clearly doesn't feel a need to compete on lounges.

UA already lost my my UC dollars. It's not getting them back.

As much as I gripe about lounge offerings, I can't say that UAs approach to their lounges (open locations and food selection) has truly impacted me all that much. Since this thing started I minimize my time at airports in all respects. Not from some fear of a virus or being around other people, but rather that traveling -in the form its taken on since last year- just isn't as enjoyable as it was before. Not sure when that will change, and if the UC changes could make a difference. I've learned to live without/with less and made due. Probably time to just dump the Club card.

I'm grateful they opened the HNL club and that has actually drawn me to the airport earlier than usual - whether I am taking the HNL-SFO redeye, next one tonight, or the 9am morning flight - the club in every instance has been near empty - it feels like a very private club - quiet, feels like personalized service.

If only they could replicate that at SFO on the return - it has been getting crowded.

They hopefully will soon reopen the blue plastic scheme UC near gate 70 (whatever it’s called now)

This is the one that's hidden away right? Like you have to take an elevator and walk a little bit to that small room? I'd rather they open the gate 60s one or the G gates one no? If we are thinking of the same club isn't that one just a small room and wouldn't take away too much from the crowding

I think he meant the one by the E gates - no need to take elevator
