The airports - excepting SFO - sure feel more than 60% full! I was through PHX and LAX this weekend and they were a mess.

New FT member, LONG time lurker and first post! I've been an UC member since 2015. I was celebrating my birthday last week with my brother. We had an hour to burn so we stopped by the IAH E11 location. Celebrated with two Moets and on the second round of comp drinks we were told we could not order drinks for another hour. I've never heard this before...
I've never been cut off at a UC and I can assure you that I average more than a drink every 30 minutes and that my gross through-put is often more than two in a UC sitting. Barring something obvious about your demeanor (I have absolutely seen people cut off in the lounge before) hard to say what prompted that employee to say no mas. Is this Moet scarcity sensitivity? Did you not tip the guy/gal?

Early afternoon. Tipped $5 for the Moet. Big party of loud Golfing buddies downing coors light over by the non airside seats. I've never noticed comp items entered in the tablets because I am always too busy looking in my wallet for a cash tip. Almost always in a black sport coat or similar. Quite and to ourselves. It came off as if I was being talked down to. Maybe its because I'm younger and order cutty neat so I can add my own water and not the city tap from the gun. The next day post birthday celebration on our way home we probably looked terrible but had no problem in the air or in multiple clubs thoroughly enjoying ourselves. My first thought was some sort of nanny state cost cutting considering I haven't paid a dime for UC for over a year and still have many months left in my current membership.

I sent a note to GS yesterday regarding the need for more open UCs given the significant increase in traffic, lines out the door, etc.
Here’s the less than helpful response I received:
”Dear Mr. tcdtcd,
Thank you for your email. I will forward your comments to our senior management team as they have not yet advised us when any additional United Clubs will be opened. If I do hear something I will reach back out to you and let you know.
Thank you for being a member of Global Services.
Sincerely,”

The bartender has been there for years. I don't remember his name because I usually do not connect through IAH. My demeanor every once in a while gets me vomit bags filled with Glenfarclas from the pursrers who recognize me. I love to give the cabin crews starbucks gift cards so I know a few by name after all these years. Am I so nonobservant that I never noticed comp items being entered? It's like buying a new pick up and noticing every similar truck on the road you never used pay attention to.
I will be back to IAH next week. I will be on my way home so I will see if I can have more than 3. I have 3.5 hours there.

Started settling for requesting a splash of soda / no ice, which seems to avoid triggering whatever complex some have. I speculate it might be that they get more problem drinkers who order 'straight up', and they just want none of that.
edit add: when you mention 'comp items' it sounds like you're referring to the premium drinks they comp for polaris passengers, is that right?

Was at ORD B6 lounge yesterday between 1 and 2pm. Must be a big bank of departures between 1:30 and 2pm because it was packed at 1pm and quiet by the time I left.
3 bartenders were working behind the bar… standard food items, and a CIBO style roast beef & cheese brown bread sandwich sealed in plastic - not seen those before but ORD isn’t my home club. (Sorry no pic). Bean & cheese burritos, pre packaged salads, celery & carrots, ramen, and chips all on offer…
do wish they’d put bigger cups out next to the soda machine than the standard United blue cocktail cups…

No. I am talking about the complimentary alcohol and the soft drinks from the gun. It feels like service is slower now that I have noticed this. A sparkling water no ice even gets tapped into the tablets. If this is new, are they collecting data for more cuts?

Yes, I have a much larger cache of miles than I'd like, and I've started redeeming nearly automatically if I see >1cpm.

I would sort of guess it's more about trying to square inventory with passenger consumption, i.e. to make sure bartenders aren't lifting bottles, but that doesn't quite fit with the sparkling water being input. Still, I'm not sure how they would match the order to a passenger with no table numbers.

Now that you mention it I think I remember seeing house drinks tapped in.

Probably more overall consumption / time of day trends than individual consumption... But also just because you can't see a table number doesn't mean they aren't there -- but in the context of a UC that really only works for seating at/in the immediate vicinity of the bar. But if someone is lifting bottles that trend would be easy to spot from overall consumption even if phantom transactions were logged to try to cover it (Hmm... on Wednesdays when Joe works consumption is up 300% over Wednesdays when John works...let's go to the CCTV)

Most UC and all Polaris lounges are meeting Scott Kirby's goal of zero emissions.
In the last five days I have been to two Centurion, two American, three Delta, one Alaska and one United lounge.
UC have the smallest percentage of lounges open of all these competitors.
Zero UC have day beds or showers, so they can only try to compete on alcohol and food.

You are correct for the personal UC card. But the business UC clab card still earns 1.5 miles per dollar. Hopefully the following link is not targetted as I was logged on to the UA site when getting it.
