CRJ550 Update: N540GJ is out of STL storage. (Not sure if this was mothballed or a new conversion after sitting at STL for a few months, my guess is the latter).

https://flightaware.com/live/flight/N540GJ

(Sorry to steal our usual suspects’ thunder, but I like to contribute once in a while too ).

ETA: I flew on this frame on its 2nd revenue flight. I think I need a new fragrance in my life; new plane smell!

That tips the 788 fleet to more than halfway complete with Polaris mods. Good to see this wise capital investment continuing. While there are concerns about the 787 Polaris seat being too narrow (I don't find it prohibitvely so, but YMMV) the addition of a Premium Plus cabin more than offsets the J loss, IMO.

Well finally. I generally find JFK Airtain plus E train a more efficient way to get to where I need to be in Manhattan than the mess that is EWR, toy train. NJT, and then another subway...

I'd prefer more frequency, hope that UA can get the gates and slots. Wonder if UA can get back the lounge space that they yielded to AS (who renovated it nicely but it remains closed.) I don't recall whether AS is operating out of T7 or moved somewhere else.

I noticed that a few days ago. Unfortunately, none on the 5 remaining old-birds have XMN as a destination in the next few days per FlightAware. I'm assuming the hold up is seats from the manufacturer. Can anyone shed some light on this?

A pair of 787-9s are currently in XMN, unclear if this is for Polaris mods. Any delays these days would be associated with United trying to control capex, not volume-related vendor delays.

I believe the recent statement made by a VP (forgot which one) calls for completing the 788 conversions by 3Q’21 and having 35% of the 789s in Polaris configuration in 2021. Most of those Polaris 789s are new deliveries plus a few conversions.
