To find your PQDs if >than $12K
Go to
MileagePlus activity since my last statement and it is in the "Account summary" table at the top of the page.

Note this is not just the UA operated PQDs (which is commonly believed to be what matters for GS) but rather your total PQDs.

Definitions

BIS is actual scheduled flight distance (Great Circle Mileage Distance -- GCM) between airports with 500 mile minimum for elites. This is the standard used for Lifetime miles also. Those flying mostly sub-500 segments sometimes prefer to not use the minimum rule.

The definition for CPM is a bit vaguer, especially since CPM is used in multiple different situations.

Believe for the purpose of this thread, GS qualification, folks are using

PQD CPM = UA PQDs / UA BIS

Note there is no direct evidence UA uses this CPM number for GS Qualification but it is a number FTers like to use.

As for BIS, UA does not report this number your account and it needs to be manually tracked.

One way is to make use that PQMs are based on BIS but there may be a multiplier / bonus for high end fares. If always in 2x PQMs, you could divide by 2 to get BIS.

rwsteelers had a good method for determining UA BIS -- the change in Lifetime Miles from the first of the year.

Similar spreadsheets were created in years past, so I'm hoping to continue this tradition. Please take the time to enter your stats into the spreadsheet. Many thanks

how do you match it?

Is there a good United discount code on Hertz?

thanks to flyerbjorn I'm now EE on national. It worked. And also at $13k of my $15k GS challenge with the rest of the month to go. I have a business class flight to Asia this weekend so that will get me there. Now just need 60 more Marriott nights for the rest of the year to get the trifecta with ambassador elite.

Maybe if I get some steal rates on Travelocity for National (doesn't happen often) for personal travel, I will do this and make the best of it.

Thanks for sharing!

One chart that would be interesting to me would be showing the distribution of qualifiers and non qualifiers, with the qualifiers in blue and the nonqualifiers in red. I would be just like the ones at the end of the charts now, but with new and requal combined and the total number of nonqualifiers added as a red bar on top of the blue ones (or below, doesn't matter).

I found out that a friend of mine, who also lives in Sydney, had a higher PQD than me last year, with fewer segments. I'm GS, but he's not.

As we dug into the details, his United mailing address is his parent's house in SF. I told him to change that to Australia, so he'd qualify next year.

Yield and revenue over multiple consecutive years could be a complicating factor; I assume you are talking about UA PQD's as that's all that count. MP address may or may not play a role, but I have seen no evidence of that. I have seen evidence that yield matters, and that revenue over multiple consecutive years matters, too. (And United has stated as much in public).

I'll guess we'll find out next year. I've qualified two years in a row out of SYD with UA only PQD in the $40k. My friend has a very similar flying pattern to me: All business class. Multi year revenue in the $40k, but less than $50k. Mostly SYD-US.

PQDs are based on home airport, and SFO is one of the biggest GS hubs.

Just to close loop on my $15k challenge. I met the number and the next day I was made GS again.

Will requesting eu261 compensation affect GS renewal

Hey there,

Not sure this was discussed elsewhere (or if there is any real evidence one way or the other) but will requesting eu261 compensation for a 3+ hour mx delay for 4 people on an award ticket affect their decision to requal me for GS next year?

Since the guidelines for GS are unpublished, it's impossible to say with certainty.

However, I'd be astonished if it had a negative effect, as those rights are protected by law. I hardly think the EC would look kindly on an airline taking retribution against a passenger for requesting the compensation laid out in the law.

I doubt that simply requesting comp would impact that. If you were to threaten to sue them following a denial, that might impact how they view the relationship.

Nobody here can say with any certainty because the guidelines are not published.

But, I would find it astonishing if pursuing a valid legal claim affected anything.
