Has UA ever flown a 3-class 772 on this route?

The B772ER used on the SFO-TPE route has always been the 3-class international configuration. When available, I would upgrade to the smaller (than the B744) and more intimate first class cabin.

Woooow - I have a feeling they are going to retire even more routes before the end of Oct. I thought PEK was going to be one of the last 747 routes?

I thought I was going to have six more flights on the 744 on the SFO-PEK-SFO route during September and October. Now, it look like I am lucky to just have two more flights on the 744.

I'd never thought I will be disappointed to fly the 1-2-1 Polaris seats

SFO-FRA is really good news.

I'm sad to see the 744s go but they're very tired and I much prefer the Polaris seat for the direct aisle access and privacy.

A bit surprised 78/79 got picked over EWR-HKG/DEL/BOM but anecdotally I don't think I've ever been on a EWR-NRT and v.v. flight that was not close to capacity.

As much as I'm going to miss the 744, given the shape they are in, it is indeed time for them to go. While I detest the 10-across Y, UA was smart to order 4 more of them.

I believe ICN was the last 747 route.

I have my last 747 flight on Sept 5 PEK-SFO.

Just check UA schedule
UA888 10/27 one-time 772 instead of 77W

747 last flight:
10/27 SFO-LHR (2nd daliy flight)
10/27 SFO-FRA (2nd daliy flight, starting 10/28 only one flight per day)
10/28 SFO-ICN

so 10/29 ICN-SFO will still be the last 747 flight

Dunno. Having just got off of 1A SFO-PEK on a 'tired' 17 year old 747, I'd choose that any day over 3A which I recently flew on the brand-new 77W.

Right I've known ICN was the last route but PEK also ended on the same day, just earlier.

Yes, 1A on a 747 is better than any Polaris seat. But the 744's are reaching the end, especially from a maintenance cost standpoint. Not to mention that if fuel costs go up, so will prices. four holers are a dying breed.

You are right about 4 engines being a dying breed and the overall cost perspective. That's the main reason they are leaving.

Age though, isn't really the issue in my mind. The entire 744 fleet is about the same age or newer as the PS/752 fleet, and 1/2 of the fleet was built in 98-00. That's the same age as a good number of the 737/Airbus/763/764/772 that we will be flying on long into the future.

Glad to see the 77W is picking up the SFOFRA city pair, instead of the previously scheduled 772. Meanwhile, the 744 on UA 926/927 will still be there for the remainder of October.

I do see 77W on SFOLHR (UA 900 901) in May 2018.
