Website reservation error
I am currently in Tokyo and changed my flight back to SFO to 1 day earlier. The change flight tool priced a change plus upgrade to J at 850 +300 change fee. Last night I went to check in and there was an error so I called UA. They claimed there was no CC charge and that the pricing could have never existed. I hung up and checked my credit card statement and I have been charged. Any advice on how to address this with customer service would be greatly appreciated.

Did you do a seat selection during the change?
Did you receive a change acknowledgement email?

Call back and if needed request a supervisor with the evidence you have (there should be a related 016xxxxxxxxx number of the credit card charge info). Is the credit card item pending or actually processed?

The agents should also be able to see the Add/Collect as evidence of the activity,

Thanks for the help! 3rd phone call magically yielded the 4th different price and actually cheaper than the original fare.

I'd call in and ask for the ESD (Electronic Support Desk). Actually, I recently found that when the web site messes up a reservation like this and my MP# is associated with the reservation and I calledit I'm automatically prompted to be connected to the ESD. They should be able to find and fix (and hold) the reservation you built. Do this before it expires, th
ugh!
ugh!SO glad, as now it's almost a $1000 difference! But I've got it locked in on FareLock until next week!

Wierd award change via UA.com
So my parents each got saver awards US to Hawaii. So 2 seats at 45K each total of 90K + $22.40 in taxes. The route is EWR-IAH (3/7) (stopover in IAH) and IAH-LAX-KOA (3/8) then HNL-LAX-IAH-EWR (on 3/14 into 3/15). The reason for the wacky routing is they are meeting up with my 13 year old niece to take her to Hawaii in IAH (She's on a separate res, but the agent has connected them so no UM fee has been charged). Anyway, I found a better routing and went to see what it was price out as. I start the change on UA.com to do EWR-IAH-SFO-KOA on 3/7 and then HNL-IAH-EWR (on 3/13 into 3/14). The system says old fare 2 tickets for 90K, new fare 2 tickets at 90K plus $200 for change fees, it then says 105K will be refunded and I owe $200. How can this be right? Even if the miles get redeposited and then are used to pay for the 90K award tickets, that still has me netting 15,000?? I'm a bit confused.

Sounds like a bug. Why not pay and see what happens? Worst case, you pay $200 in fees. Best case, you get back 15K miles.

It should be $150 in change fees as there are no change in depart or arrival cities and over 21 days before the new flight. I still have to approve the changes with my parents so will wait for now.

The online change function is broken. You're likely going to wind up with a mess and will then have to call to get it fixed. I'd do this by phone in the first instance.

No go on the change because of the fact that the land reservations are already set. However this new site is really having its problems. 2 weeks ago when I booked the tickets it was doing its impression of healthcare.gov and totally crashing which forced me to call. Now I would have to call to change it.
