No idea how they would do it. It was for a friend who did not want to upgrade and was a segment of a ticket to Europe mostly on LX, that cost $600 r/t. UA only offer 1 segment for upgrade.

1k, T fare
$199 @ OLCI
Currently 16/71 on the UG list.
The annoying thing about it is that they're offering it on a flight with so many high status people. Given my low fare class, I'm guessing there are about 20 1k's on the flight. There may even be a GS or two in coach, since there are only 2 cleared with F currently full.

Completely full bus, too.

Another TOD
1K spouse on a W fare tomorrow LGA-IAH.
1 F seat left, offered it for $79 at OLCI. Tried to convince her to take it - she's not willing to fork over any OOP $. I'm sure others will get better offers so likely coach for her.
Oh - and this is a blatant TOD :-:. Most expensive half of a r/t W fare is $375; cheapest half of a r/t -UP is $725. Thus, a real price differential of $350 (and that of course takes advance purchase requirements into account).
Such a shady business

My experience is that when I am 1/## unless there are all 12 seats available the TODs will eat up every seat...

Fare: W

Declined as 6 seats available in F at OLCI. #1 on the UG list.
UPDATE: Ended up SDC. When I bailed out, I was #2 on the list, 1 F seat available and no additional CPUs given

It sure is! I'm desperately trying to not take it personally
I just checked the flight from which I SDC'd and it went out with the same list of people on the UG list as when I bailed and, nobody upgraded inside OLCI and the 6 F seats sold plus one that had previously been CPU'd and then dropped off the list, so that makes 7 seats available inside OLCI with zero CPUs.

Silver.
Booked a November CLE-MCO/RSW-CLE for $246
The instant upgrade offer was $159 for the CLE-MCO segment. Basically the same as the upcharge to an A fare @ $395. No TOD there. Declined.
After res was ticketed, checked upgrade offer and it was ~$850 for the CLE-MCO segment. Why does UA punish those of us who don't accept the initial offer, but might think twice? Seriously, $850 to upgrade a 2.5 hr snack flight? I'm pretty darn sure the kettles will be getting $89 offers at OLCI....
