Yes. Just do it. Bartending at a United Club isn't a tip bonanza, plus they have to deal with the hassles of working airside at an airport.

Apologies since I have not read through the entirety of this thread... this issue is likely well documented.

Traveling tomorrow (7/22/17) with my family, who are on a separate PNR.

OLCI @ T-22 hrs (simultaneously, separate browsers)

SFO-IAH segment confirmed 1st class buy-up
Wife & Son (both same PNR, non-elites) -- $199 per person
Me (gold elite, separate PNR) -- $279

Glad to see that UA is specifically targeting their Elites to scrape a few extra dollars out of our pockets for the same product at the same time!!

Makes me glad that I've focused my business on them.

CLG

Edited to add that all of us were booked into the same fare class, so that isn't an excuse in this case.

Nothing new here. TOD upgrades have always been like this with the potential for lower prices for non-elites.

But it remains both offensive and noteworthy.

Then switch to another airline. It has been long since UA stopped respecting customers.

07/23/17 Upgrade offers @ T-24 check in:

SFO-BOS: $299. Declined.
BOS-IAD: $99. Declined.

As I noted in the "Upgrade certificates (GPUs & RPUs) are useless nowadays" thread, I applied my last 2016 earned RPU for the SFO-BOS segment and eventually made the jump into J. Still on the wait list for BOS-IAD.

At purchase:

SFO-MSP (P3 PN0 R0): $199 from a G fare
MSP-SFO (P9 PN0 R0): $199 from a G fare

Still seems to be business as usual.

I have had many good experiences with UA, particularly in 2017, and overall find they treat me pretty well.

I do think the differential pricing of upgrades is wrong though.

After so many PR disasters, UA has made it clear they don't care about customers.

Both AA and DL do a much better job protecting elite upgrades over selling them to non-elite pax the way UA does.

SFO-KOA $309
KOA-SFO $469
At time of booking for 9/15 out and 9/29 back. The $309 is pretty typical.

Upgrade during checking on transcontinental flight LAX/SFO to BOS/EWR

I'm Premier Silver and actually want to upgrade with miles and $225 co-pay on a flight from LAX to EWR. There is no confirmed upgrade but there is a waitlist. I don't now my chances of being cleared on that flight because of my Silver status. I want to know if they put seats on sale during check in just like any other flight or just because its premium transcontinental flight they won't? Don't know if try my luck or request the upgrade with miles.
