Welcome to FT!, ariel024
Upgrades for Silver on LAX-EWR are poor but not totally impossible -- just improbable.
Cash upgrades are regularly offered, $299, for these flights, a poor chance they may be cheaper at checkin.

For both the 772 and 77W and the 752 and ... The service standard (not the full international Polaris service) is pretty much the same on all and all lie-flat seats

Welcome to FT. $249 post purchase is not uncommon but IME $299 is the norm regardless of fare class and status post purchase/checkin.
I think there is a bigger difference in the name: Cross Country Comfort Premium Transcontinental Business Class (CCCPTBC for short), previously PS, than there is in the service.

EWR -BOM Economy (V)
No Elite status
Offered Economy Plus at time of booking - $213 for front row(16)
exit row $277
Other rows $237
No Business upgrade offered
Is that typical price or will it get cheaper at time of check in?
Will Business class be offered at time of check in? And if Yes - any idea how much will it be?
If I don't take Economy Plus now, can I expect price to decrease or will it increase?
Thanks

Yeah, no upgrade likely even with instrument. You should see Thanksgiving week. I have to fly in and out of KOA (for work) and they want over $3K for E ticket and on one of the flights E+ is already sold out (I think it was on the Sat after Thanksgiving). Decided to go with AS out of OAK for half the price but still crazy expensive!

Checking in earlier has no determination on your place on the UG list, if you are at #1 a GS does a SDC 61 minutes prior to your flight she/he will displace you (provided you are not GS)

correct, status is more important then check-in time.

Agreed, though time of check-in can certainly matter on elite heavy routes where certain fare classes are prevalent among business travelers (e.g., the flexible U fares for intra-California flights).

HND-YVR Upgrade on ANA
I booked SFO-KIX then HND-YVR through United in economy. Rounds trip costs $1500.
SFO-KIX is operated by United, W
HND-YVR by ANA, Q
A week before departure, i was offered $2600 to upgrade SFO-KIX to business and $242 to upgrade HND-YVR to ANA’s buisiness.
Accepted the $242 upgrade on ANA. I think it’s a great deal!
