MCT for EWR (2012)

https://www.newarkairport.com/at-airport/connecting-flights

United Airlines operates an "air side" shuttle bus between Terminals A and C from 4:00AM to 12:00AM (midnight). In addition, United also operates a shuttle bus connecting Terminals A and C to terminal B (pier 3, used by Star Alliance carriers) from 1:00PM to 11:00PM, but not in the opposite direction (shuttle does not board at Terminal B). The shuttle bus is available at gate A28 and C70 as illustrated in the image above. The shuttle drops off passengers at the terminal B through the service entry, that requires walking up 2 flights of stairs - there is no elevator. Only the front bus doors will open for alighting at terminal B.This service is free and you will not have to go through TSA security again. Please note this shuttle is operated at the sole responsibility of United Airlines and is subject to modification at their discretion.

Agreed. Without GE, highly unlikely. With GE, most likely possible if things go well.

Does UA now have some international arrivals at EWR in Terminal C?

I was checking the NRT-EWR flight (UA 78), and it shows an arrival gate of C138 (or C136 for the current few days).

Is that something new? I thought int'l arrivals were in Terminal B?

What are the immigration/customs procedures for a Terminal C arrival for a connecting flight (domestic UA) ?

The EWR terminal C map does indicate a CBP facility in the vicinity of those gates:
http://www.panynj.gov/airports/ewr-airport-map.html

Doesn't seem to be all that new either, there's a thread about APC kiosks in Terminal C from 2014:

There are two CBP facilities at EWR; one in B and one in C. The B facility is full time while the C facility is only open during the busier periods.

When arriving at the international gates in C you go up escalators and proceed through the glassed-in hallways above the main concourse to reach the CBP facility.

Thanks.

And I assume they have working Global Entry kiosks?

I assume you then get to an int'l baggage claim area, clear Customs, then can hand off your bag, then get to TSA, all within the Terminal C complex?

(I have Global Entry and TSA Pre.)

I've arrived many times on NRT-EWR but always in Terminal B, then had to take the train over to Terminal C.

Both facilities have an ample supply of kiosks. I've never had to wait for one at either location.

There is a baggage claim area. Only baggage from arriving international flights will be sent there.

The baggage recheck is after exiting customs.

The CBP facility in the C-terminal exits on the lowest level of the C-terminal. You go up the escalators to the applicable TSA checkpoints. The precheck checkpoint is the one to the far left.

The CBP facility in the B-terminal exists on the lowest level of the B-terminal. You go up to the airtrain, or walk outside if you like, to reach the C-terminal and the same security checkpoints.

I've arrived many times on NRT-EWR but always in Terminal B, then had to take the train over to Terminal C.
That would be based on time of day. The NRT-EWR flights must arrive outside the normal operating times of the C-terminal CBP facility.

The transition back to security is shorter when arriving at the C-terminal facility.

Is this connection time ok?

I am new to UA for some of my flying...primarily DL. Not relevant here, except that I am not familiar with EWR. I will be flying BFS-DTW flight 76 to flight 3543. That leaves 1:13 to connect in EWR. Will that be enough connection time? I will be in J if that matters and I am Global Entry (if that matters). Your help is greatly appreciated. I look forward to trying the Polaris meals.

Doable in your situation (first off the plane, GE thru customs/immigration) as long as you don't have to collect checked luggage - but it will be very, very tight depending on which terminal your DTW flight departs from. Possible but there would be no margin for error.

EWR TSA can get really backed up - even for TSA PreCheck. There's also the relatively slow inter-terminal train. I've seen baggage claim take 45+ mins coming off of an international arrival.

Thanks mrswirl. I guess there is always the next flight 2 hours later, but I'd rather minimize the time. I will have no checked bags.

Where is the 1K domestic check-in at EWR now please?

For a 1K, where should I check in at EWR for an international trip in J to TLV?

(travelling with 3 bags - hard to just look around thks)

The answer is the same. You will check in on the upper level closer to Door 2/3 before the escalators to the C2 checkpoint.

It is a dedicated 1K and Polaris check-in.

How long does it take for the shuttle to go from Terminal C to Terminal A?

I have a 55 minute connection hopping off SFO-EWR in C (C110) and then getting to my EWR-BWI flight over in A (A26X) tomorrow (02/07/17).

The airport maps for EWR posted by the Port Authority of NY and NJ (http://www.panynj.gov/airports/ewr-airport-map.html) show the Gate A28 (in Terminal A2) as one end point/entry for the shuttle and Gate C72 (in Terminal C1) as the other end point/entry. (Unfortunately, United's web page info for EWR doesn't even show which gates to go to for the shuttle service.)

However, no info is provided as to how often the shuttles run between the two terminals.

Questions:
  1. How often do the shuttles run between the terminals?
  2. How long does it take for a shuttle to go from Terminal C to Terminal A?
  3. How long does it take for a shuttle to go from Terminal A to Terminal C? (on my return later this week)

Thanks!

David

(Unfortunately, United's web page info for EWR doesn't even show which gates to go to for the shuttle service.)

The shuttles run every few minutes -- Time between them is a maximum of 10-15 minutes in my experience. it takes at most about 10 minutes to go from A to C or C to A ... unless they stop at B which adds a minute or tw. to the trip.

I'd estimate that the busses leave every five or six minutes. At C, there should be two busses waiting. One will be an express that bypasses B (C-A-C). The other stops at B each way (C-B-A-B-C). Transit time is four or five minutes on the express. A 55 minute connection is plenty of time.

The bus stop is right next to gate C71. Have your boarding pass out as they'll want to see it before sending you down the stairs (right) or elevator (left) to the bus.

The stop at the A terminal is next to gate A28. You also have a choice between stairs and elevator.

The call and floor buttons on both elevators don't light up. That confuses a lot of people.

Do all UA flights connect out of Terminal A?

Connecting from UA233 to UA57.

Checking on lounge choices. United Clubs in Terminals A and C. There is a Priority Pass lounge, Art & Lounge, in Terminal B.

Seems like the latter won't be an option.
