MCT for EWR (2012)

https://www.newarkairport.com/at-airport/connecting-flights

United Airlines operates an "air side" shuttle bus between Terminals A and C from 4:00AM to 12:00AM (midnight). In addition, United also operates a shuttle bus connecting Terminals A and C to terminal B (pier 3, used by Star Alliance carriers) from 1:00PM to 11:00PM, but not in the opposite direction (shuttle does not board at Terminal B). The shuttle bus is available at gate A28 and C70 as illustrated in the image above. The shuttle drops off passengers at the terminal B through the service entry, that requires walking up 2 flights of stairs - there is no elevator. Only the front bus doors will open for alighting at terminal B.This service is free and you will not have to go through TSA security again. Please note this shuttle is operated at the sole responsibility of United Airlines and is subject to modification at their discretion.

Consolidated EWR connection time/logistics-Domestic & International

I'm flying from CDG - EWR, arriving Terminal C on United.

Then I have 95 minutes to catch an Air Canada flight to YYZ from Terminal A.

What's my best route - Airtrain & go through security?
Or can I take the United shuttle from C to A? (not sure I can since I'm changing airlines, although all on one ticket). I'm a Canadian citizen.

I was shocked when I walked out of EWR at 6 PM on a Wednesday and saw the C1 security line winding along the wall, and then when I went one level down, there was a line to let people go up!

Thank my lucky stars I have TSA Precheck, but shutting down the C2 security line has made things pretty nuts for everyone else.

Depends upon time of day. Last year we arrived from Zurich on UA around noon and the arrival hall was virtually empty. We took a train to our connecting termjnal, cleared PREcheck in about three minutes and were in the United Club about 30 minutes after we stepped off the plane.
My experience says to take the train. You never know how long it will be til the next shuttle bus and, I believe, you're going to have to clear security regardless.

Thanks Ken - the possibility of not having to clear security again by utilizing the shuttle was a major draw. If that's not the case, I may as well use the Airtrain.

My transfer will be between 1 PM & 2:35.

I'm pretty sure that's the case (reclearing security) or we would have definitely used the shuttle.
With your arrival at 1300 you're probably going to be fine. Do you have Global Entry? That would be even better. And having a seat near the front of the plane always helps, too.

You must clear customs and immigration and then reclear security.

If you check bags, you may have a tough time making that connection.

The C<->A shuttle goes to the UX pod in A. There's no way to go between pods in Terminal A without exiting security.

Don't forget that some UA Int'l arrivals into Newark arrive into Terminal B. Which would put you one terminal closer to A.

Thanks everyone- that helps a lot. This will be my first time to EWR since the days of People's Express & City Express

I expect to have no checked luggage.

I have a 9am UA flight tomorrow out of Terminal A, first time out of Newark in ages. What time would you suggest I arrive @ EWR? Have TSA pre. Thanks.

I don't fly out of EWR a lot but 0900 might not be too bad on a Saturday morning this time of year. PRE can be screwy there. Checking bags?

It might be overkill but I would be walking into the building no later than 0730.

The KVS Tool shows different MCT's for Standard and a UA-UA Online. I am assuming UA-UA Online is a United to United connection and Standard would be anything not United to United? Additionally, any idea why UA Premier Desk agents are always utilizing the Standard MCT's?

Flight Change Over - Edinburgh to Newark on United

Hi - We'll be visiting Scotland and returning via Newark.

I want to know, when we return to Newark via United, will we have to claim our baggage and clear customs before changing planes?

The reason I ask is that my father does not want to take the second leg, and leave directly from Newark. I will continue to another flight. He's also booked on that flight and he will need his baggage. Unfortunately, due to the way the travel agency books the tickets, there is no way for them to cancel his second leg. If he has to claim his baggage before reentering security, he would just leave.

Since EWR will be your first point of entry into the US, you will need to clear immigration and customs (collect bags). They will not be checked through (unless you clear immigration and customs before you arrive, but Scotland is not one of those locations).
