United Airlines operates an "air side" shuttle bus between Terminals A and C from 4:00AM to 12:00AM (midnight). In addition, United also operates a shuttle bus connecting Terminals A and C to terminal B (pier 3, used by Star Alliance carriers) from 1:00PM to 11:00PM, but not in the opposite direction (shuttle does not board at Terminal B). The shuttle bus is available at gate A28 and C70 as illustrated in the image above. The shuttle drops off passengers at the terminal B through the service entry, that requires walking up 2 flights of stairs - there is no elevator. Only the front bus doors will open for alighting at terminal B.This service is free and you will not have to go through TSA security again. I'm flying from CDG - EWR, arriving Terminal C on United.
Then I have 95 minutes to catch an Air Canada flight to YYZ from Terminal A.
What's my best route - Airtrain & go through security?
Or can I take the United shuttle from C to A? (not sure I can since I'm changing airlines, although all on one ticket). I'm a Canadian citizen.

I'm not so sure about that. Only door A has a Premier/PreCheck line. When I was there on 27DEC, both door 2 & 3 had lines that led DOWNSTAIRS. Even PreCheck for me was at least 3x the standard time. Granted that may have been Christmas traffic, but EWR C is usually quite packed.
Thank my lucky stars I have TSA Precheck, but shutting down the C2 security line has made things pretty nuts for everyone else.

My experience says to take the train. You never know how long it will be til the next shuttle bus and, I believe, you're going to have to clear security regardless.

Thanks Ken - the possibility of not having to clear security again by utilizing the shuttle was a major draw. If that's not the case, I may as well use the Airtrain.

With your arrival at 1300 you're probably going to be fine. Do you have Global Entry? That would be even better. And having a seat near the front of the plane always helps, too.

Don't forget that some UA Int'l arrivals into Newark arrive into Terminal B. Which would put you one terminal closer to A.

The KVS Tool shows different MCT's for Standard and a UA-UA Online. I am assuming UA-UA Online is a United to United connection and Standard would be anything not United to United? Additionally, any idea why UA Premier Desk agents are always utilizing the Standard MCT's?

Hi - We'll be visiting Scotland and returning via Newark.
I want to know, when we return to Newark via United, will we have to claim our baggage and clear customs before changing planes?
The reason I ask is that my father does not want to take the second leg, and leave directly from Newark. I will continue to another flight. He's also booked on that flight and he will need his baggage. Unfortunately, due to the way the travel agency books the tickets, there is no way for them to cancel his second leg. If he has to claim his baggage before reentering security, he would just leave.
