Seat assignments for through flights (direct flights) still jacked up.

Flying BWI-SFO-LAS UA562 (single flight number), got E+ seat for BWI-SFO but unable to choose seat for SFO-LAS (assigned E-)

Called in a few weeks ago, thought the agent split the segments because I ended up with a decent E+ seat SFO-LAS.

OLCI to find out the SFO-LAS seat reverted back to the original E- seat. Called and agent was unable to change the seat - suggested I change seats at the airport.

Tried mobile.united.com and alas, assigned myself E+

I spoke with another agent yesterday (21m wait), who sat us together and then said something like, "I closed (or maybe locked?) the reservation so further seating changes cannot be made." Hmm.

She acknowledged that there are "still issues with seating, but they are working on it."

Today it seems we have yet another seat change on the two domestic segments. No longer in the exit row on the EMB-120, and are seated in different rows on the 752, still in First. The 744 transpac still shows us together on the upper deck. The flights are tomorrow, it will be interesting to see where we actually sit.

It is quite pathetic, I agree. Not hearing a whole lot of SHARES defenders these days a month-plus in, that's one nice development ^

I'm guessing they've "turned off" posting until the supposed major 4/15 sweep. We'll see.

I'm not necessarily a SHARES defender but SHARES worked premerger. Yes it was shoddy at best and there were a number of bugs that CO fixed in a minimalistic fashion, that is if they even deemed it fix worthy. It is not like the issues we see today are things that PMCO guys have faced for years (TODs was not this bad premerger). However, whatever modifications they made on 3/3 has resulted in SHARES essentially blowing up. Given how many issues still exist they may need to go back and do some extensive redevelopment. So like you mentioned they may have turned off mileage postings simply because of the various issues that remain and the various development work needed to fix it. They may have made the decision that no postings are better than wrong postings. Not surprisingly they have not relayed any of this to the passenger and just leave us wondering.

Coming up on two weeks with no updates? Did UA take a vacation?

I don't doubt that's what UA has done.

I'm a bit anxious as to the effect this will have on my BD flight mileage given BD is about to go away as a *A partner. I suspect it won't post, then UA will claim they don't earn miles.

Yeps, lots of us in this same boat. Missing some LH credit from 3/28, actually, and a bunch of flights from last week. Getting tiresome.

Missing flight segments from 3/15, 4/4. Both are flights between ORD-IAD on UA metal. Not sure how long this saga will go on..

Could we please have an update from UA_Insider on the apparent backlog and/or non-response of their MileagePlus card/kit vendor?

I know I'm not alone in having made multiple requests for my card kit, been promised multiple times that it had been mailed, and yet having received nothing.

Is there some sort of shortage of materials? A system error? I hate wasting my time and the time of phone agents trying to simply get a MP card mailed out. It shouldn't take a month.

As a 1K MM I got mine with the tag some time ago. My wife (now a 1K through my status) has not received anything, nor has my son (Premier).

Absolutely no rhyme or reason (which is a BIG part of the frustration). I'm a 1K MM and got mine about 6 weeks ago, my wife got her 1K a week or so later and my son (a Premier Exec who never bothered to change his address) got his last week. Same last name, same address, reasonably close (old UAL) numbers.

Sure SHARES worked for an airline less than half the size it is now. United's system processed almost a third more more passengers and flights and was infinitely more complex and easier to use. This apparently was done to save money and turned out to be a fatal error. Passengers have suffered.

Where do people keep getting these talking points? pmCO was only about 15% smaller in terms of RPM and actually had more daily departures than pmUA. Not only that, but they also had more interrnational pax than UA had.

CO certainly had less hubs (2 1/2 versus 4 1/2 that UA had), but EWR was/is an IRROPS beast.

I'd wager that most of the merger problems are due to a few things:

1) Inadequate training of pmUA staff
2) Failure to test certain scenarios that only occured on UA/new system changes (i.e. the ON bucket issue)
3) Inability to plan for the backups in other systems (i.e. miles posting) that 1) and 2) caused

SHARES is ultimately just about as capable as Apollo was. It doesn't handle the handover to airport control as well as Apollo does, but Shares is better at handling ancillary details to a reservation (i.e. E+ purchases) but in most other respects they are very similar *at a system functionality level*

All the rest of the complaints are about the (lack of a) SHARES front-end or policy changes or business process changes, not SHARES itself.

Shares is the one they chose for the whole airline (which is more than twice as big as its parts were P
MUnited being the larger of the two by fari) and it has failed to deliver for whatever reason at least part of which is bad user interface.
