FWIW, I have noticed a pattern with the posting of multi-segment trips. For two weeks in a row the 2nd segment posted fine but the 1st does not appear.

I am on 592 LAX-JFK on March 23. I put in for upgrade (regional) when I booked the flight a few weeks ago. It has been showing waitlisted since. Yesterday I noted that the flight was now showing RN9 but I was still showing waitlisted. I called the 1k desk to see what was going on. I was told that indeed there was upgrade seats in Business available but she could not manually upgrade me because it was automated. okay I said. I got up this morning to check and I am still waitlisted, yet the fare codes are still showing RN9.
Is this a computer issue or is something else going on. I am aware that there may be other pax ahead of me on the upgrade list (no way of knowing, I guess) but if that was the case those should be clearing and at some point the upgrades would be gone and not continuing to show at least 9 upgrade seats available.

I've got an ORD-SFO 763 (Ghetto-Bird) on Friday that is R9 and RN9 right now. Doesn't look like any upgrades have been issued..

"PM" what does that mean?
What does it mean when people say "PM" united airlines?

i have the same issue for a flight on March 23. I have been waitlisted since booking when I used a regional for upgrade. Yesterday and still today RN9 is listed but no upgrades seem to be going anywhere - certainly not to me. I called 1K desk she acknowledged that there was upgrade space available but she could not upgrade me manually. Said to wait for the system to work automatically. 24 hours later, still no joy and fare code still showing RN9 So - suggestion - if you find yourself in this situation have the agent remove the RPU (or GPU) and reapply it. Only problem is that you probably can't do this if it is a multileg upgrade where some leg has already cleared (not sure). It really is absurd that in 2012 you need people watching an automated system constantly to make it work. I have developed this silly habit of doing a morning scan of all the future reservations in my account for "events" - and I have 11 PNRs currently there. I never had this habit with the old systems. |

I just had one of these. Had waitlisted my brother for an upgrade with an RPU. I noticed this morning that the flight had gone R1 but he was still not cleared. Called and the agent said they had been told that sweeps did this and they couldn't intervene. I told her that was wrong since if I was applying the upgrade right this instant it would clear immediately so how could an existing waitlist not. So I had her remove the upgrade request from the record and then reapply it and, of course, it cleared immediately. This is ridiculous - and it's not about jumping queues. If anyone can come along and upgrade against R space instantly then there is no excuse for any uncleared upgrade to be pending against that space.

They are referring to sending a private mail (PM) to UAInsider (UA's rep here on FT)

Also, have a look at This page - It will help you to avoid asking procedural things on threads devoted to other topics. BTW - A belated welcome to FT JWonginSF ;) Lurker :) |
Don't get confused with PMUA = that is in reference to United Airlines before the merger.

The new (PMCO) system requires you to validate your passport with a live agent on a regular basis. Initially and if you have gone a certain time period since last international flight, you will need validity at the airport and no be able to check-in until that is done. Not sure what the min time period is ( I have heard 90 days and also heard 180 days). So unless you are a regular frequent international traveller, this will be regularly occur.

Shares codes needed!
In RIC. Flight oversold. Poor GA has not received training on how to work with oversold situation!!!

Did PMCO's OP credit 500-mile minimum on US flights???

I haven't flown US since 3/3, but I flew a <500mile US RT in late Feb, and the outgoing segment posted without the 500 mile minimum and the return posted with the 500 mile minimum. Both segments took over a week to post, probably US's fault initially, but such that they both posted post-integration and now after re-integration only one of them is actually visible in the activity report. But I can calculate from my summed PQMs that they remain different.
I hate to say it but... your mileage may vary  I've done literally hundreds of connecting flights between SBY and PHL on US over the years ... if that's the case, as a PMUA 1K I'd wager that my Lifetime miles are >50k lower than they would have been if I were a PMCO Platinum. |

Hmmmm ... i may be over-extrapolating here, but: pre-3/3, did OP elite members get the 500-mile minimum credit on US flights, even if the actual miles were lower? (MP members got actual, even elites ... I spent a LOT of time confirming the old MP rules on this -- "US determines miles awarded".)

However, they should've been readjusted on 1/1/2012 during the lifetime recalculation (assuming you were an elite at that time). |
