United Airlines Should Be Ashamed at How Their Switchover to Continental Systems Has Failed Fliers
http://www.spendmatters.com/index.cf...nental-Systems

The past two weeks have been a disaster for United travelers. Even though United is one of our larger suppliers at Spend Matters/MetalMiner and our general experience has actually improved in recent years, our entire team feels let down by how poorly United has managed its transition to Continental's ticketing, web, upgrade and related systems. As background, at the beginning of March, United made the transition to the systems of its recently merged/acquired partner, Continental. And across the globe, frequent flyer chaos, even for top-tier flyers, has ensued as a result.

The only saving grace has been the dozens of employees who have been extremely apologetic and empathetic throughout the failed system migration. For them, we are thankful. But this observation comes with one caveat: higher-tier frequent flyer status has enabled us to work with their best local staff through problems -- the great flying masses have likely had to deal with offshore call centers with significantly less empathic team members and even longer hold times than we've faced.

A few glitches in my UA account

I'm reporting 2 issues in this thread.

ISSUE #1
I flew roundtrip on United Mar 1 - Mar 3 but only the first leg posted to my account. I tried requesting credit for the flight through the online system (missing mileage credit) but received an error message that read, "The Fare Class for this ticket not eligible for MileagePlus miles." How is that possible when the first leg posted correctly? Here are the flight details:

Thu, Mar 1, 2012
SFO-DFW
Depart: 07:37am
Arrive: 01:05pm
United Flight 5310 operated by UNITED EXPRESS/SKYWEST AIRLINES Economy Class (on CRJ-700 CANADAIR REGIONAL)

Sat, Mar 3, 2012
DFW-SFO
Depart: 01:47pm
Arrive: 03:51pm
United Flight 326 Economy Class (on Airbus A319)

ISSUE #2
Somebody's sleeping in my bed. There is a reservation in my Mileage Plus profile that doesn't belong to me. This person is flying from SFO to EWR on Mar 17 and they have the same mileage plus number as me (or former OnePass Number). What's really disturbing about this reservation is that I can view and edit this person's traveler information, and change seats. That's terrible from a privacy standpoint. Thankfully, no financial info is listed, but I can see her DOB and contact information. I've tried calling UA about this issue but I can't get through on the phones.

Anyone have any advice on how to fix these glitches? Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Well outlined in this article!

I think you need to PM UA Insider -- particularly on the last issue!
For the missing mileage, it sounds like you need to speak to the MPSC to research it.

A couple of questions......

New MP cards:
Do non-status MP members receive a new MP card with their new MP number? I know that most loyalty programs do not send cards for non-status members and give the option of printing a card on-line* but with this being the first year of the "new MP", I was wondering if a new card would be sent for non-status MP members. The reason I ask is that both goalie-mom and goalie-dad along with goalie-sis have not rec'd anything in the mail and where they did not establish a CO account before the system migration, they have no PIN and a pre-assigned PIN as was supposed to be part of the "welcome package" which they have not rec'd. Yes, I know that they can request a new PIN but that's not what I'm asking.

*the option to print a duplicate MP card is still turned off :(

Itineraries:
When flights on an itinerary are flown, they drop off from the itinerary as soon as they are flown thus leaving only the remaining flights and while some may think this is minor, it's a royal PITA if you have to reconstruct your itinerary for mileage credit or need to give a copy for work purposes (or something similar). Under PMUA, the complete (n.b. complete) itinerary (complete with any irrops changes) showed and was retrievable on-line and my question is, why is this now the case?.

I just use View Receipt.

It would definitely be better IMO to just mark the flown segments as flown, rather than dropping them off completely - especially at the moment when all sorts of things are getting dropped off various records, in scary ways with seemingly no rhyme or reason...

Quick question.

I am in the middle of an itinerary. The miles from the outbound segment have not posted (flight was 3/13). However, the segment has disappeared from the itinerary and only the return segments are remaining, as if the PNR was booked as a one-way all along (it wasn't).

Never saw this before. Is this the new normal, or once again a sign of something wrong?

There are also "Past" and "Cancelled" tabs in My Reservations...usually you'll have your itins stay on there for a few months afterwards

Thanks mnmag. I've PMed UA Insider but I still can't get through to the MPSC (800-421-4655). I request an agent at every prompt, but the phone tree says they're too busy to transfer me, then hangs up. Is there an alternate number for premier members? Has anyone had any luck getting through to them?

Call reservations, get transferred to MP

It's the old OPSC trick that we now have to use apparently :td:

Yep, found that out the hard way when I waited an extra day (I was trying to call when they were already closed) for the OPSC to open, then tried to wait out a 2.5 hour hold time...only to spend that time searching on FT for this, and people mentioned this trick. I immediately hung up and called the Plat desk and only had to wait on hold like 5 minutes, which was good for PMCO.

Needless to say, once connected to the OPSC, they took a further 30 minutes to solve the issue, but that's just SHARES fault.

But, the trick does work to call your 1K/Plat/Gold number then ask to be transferred - or just tell them your problem!

what a complete farce. called in to make what used to be a simple award change: swapping out a ua connection and lh flight for a direct lh flight, and after 90 minutes on the phone with a very sympathetic and helpful agent...."computer says no", and can't change the award, despite clear availability across co.com and aeroplan. only option was to cancel and refund the original award ticket, and then hope that the miles redeposited in time to book the new award. no, thank you.

In the process of booking an itinerary that gives me a choice of UA or US flights, but need to know if the 500 mile minimums are still in effect on US flights for Premiers. If so, will book the US segments. Can someone who has flown short hops on US since 3/3 let me know?! The new rules don't indicate whether the 500 minimum is still in effect for US or AC flights, but I think I read in a separate post that some Premiers have received the 500 since the transition.
