Newest Travel Bank program
New UA "Travel Bank" option -- deposit funds and get a bonus

{UA} we’ve decided to discontinue the program as of April 23, 2019.
In particular, the united.com Club
united.com Club

As we keep evolving the digital experience for our travelers, we’ve decided to discontinue the united.com Club. If you’re a current member, there are a few things we hope you keep in mind.

Although you’ll no longer be able to renew your membership, you’ll continue to receive the benefits of the united.com Club until your current membership period expires. If you booked any trips before the end of your current membership, we’ll credit any united.com Club benefits to your TravelBank after you’ve completed your trip.

For more questions about the program, call us at 1-800-UNITED-1.

5 April 2018 -- UA started posting an "expiration date", appears to be at least 18 months after most recent activity (some are longer for unknown reasons)
also states
Some of your United®TravelBank Cash may expire on a different date than what’s displayed here. Please check your balance details for a complete history of your United®TravelBank Cash transactions and the expiration date for each amount.
Expiration had previously been in the T&Cs for some time (2 years of inactivity? but now is 18 months) and had stated an ETC would be issued if the funds did timeout. Unclear if that still applies.

The Gift Registry has been disabled since Fall 2017 (Sept?) (appears this may be related to a tax issue?)
As of 5 May 2018, it still states
We're sorry, our gift registry page is currently unavailable for maintenance. You can still use the funds from your gift registry to book travel during this time, but you will not be able to receive contributions or update your registry details. We expect the page to be up and running again in early 2018.
Around Sept 2018, wording changed to
We're sorry, our gift registry page is currently unavailable for maintenance. You can still use the funds from your gift registry to book travel during this time, but you will not be able to receive contributions or update your registry details.

Also, if still pending, and it somehow allowed you to use to your ticket, makes perfect sense they wouldn’t actually let it ticket.
Ticket still says "Thank you for choosing United Airlines. Your purchase is confirmed. You will be promptly notified once the internal processing of your reservation has been finalized so that you can request additional receipts, export to Microsoft Outlook, check-in, cancel, or email or print your itinerary."

Travelbank says available balance is now 0 and funds have been used and my card has been charged for the balance.

1K desk told me today that it may take another 48 (total 72 ?) hours as it has to be ticketed manually and is in queue.

Very strange indeed. I used to use the gift registry a lot in the last few years where I would book work travel using miles (ticket stays more flexible) and just contribute the $ amount to the registry. I have redeemed for the same person countless times so maybe there is more to this travelbank thingy. I have also redeemed high amounts in the past without any trouble (often $3-4k).

Can UAL TravelBank 'dollars' be used to pay annual $25

I asked this question via the UAL Products and Services section of their website(as directed) and they couldn't seem to understand the nature of the question. They kept answering with respect to annual Lounge fees - uh no that's not the question. Any one know this answer?

No. Funds in TravelBank can only be used to purchase a new ticket, UA and United Express only, no code share.

Come one United! I have some credit card travel credits to use up.
I think they're going to wait until the new year before anything happens.

I've emailed 1kvoice a couple of times about this. I've gotten zero response. I have gotten responses on other topics. I have n idea why they won't respond to questions about this.

I've nt gotten any automated replies either when I've asked about this. I finally tacked this request on as a followup to another question. I was told they would forward my request to the proper people. I've still heard nothing.

Well, this evening I received a reply. It's a non-answer, but it's more than zer. The reply read as follows:
I am very sorry for the frustration that this has caused. Our Gift Registry is still under maintenance. Unfortunately, we do not have an estimated time that the Gift Registry will be available for contributions and updates. Our Web Technology team is working as quickly as possible to find a resolution. Please check back at a later time.

If the underlying issue is the fraud issue discussed earlier, then that is the type of response I would expect.
