{UA} we’ve decided to discontinue the program as of April 23, 2019.

If you booked any trips before the end of your current membership, we’ll credit any united.com Club benefits to your TravelBank after you’ve completed your trip.

5 April 2018 -- UA started posting an "expiration date", appears to be at least 18 months after most recent activity (some are longer for unknown reasons)
also states
Some of your United®TravelBank Cash may expire on a different date than what’s displayed here. Please check your balance details for a complete history of your United®TravelBank Cash transactions and the expiration date for each amount.
Expiration had previously been in the T&Cs for some time (2 years of inactivity? but now is 18 months) and had stated an ETC would be issued if the funds did timeout. Unclear if that still applies.

The Gift Registry has been disabled since Fall 2017 (Sept?) (appears this may be related to a tax issue?)
As of 5 May 2018, it still states
We're sorry, our gift registry page is currently unavailable for maintenance. You can still use the funds from your gift registry to book travel during this time, but you will not be able to receive contributions or update your registry details. We expect the page to be up and running again in early 2018.
Around Sept 2018, wording changed to
We're sorry, our gift registry page is currently unavailable for maintenance. You can still use the funds from your gift registry to book travel during this time, but you will not be able to receive contributions or update your registry details.

Is the travel bank treated as a form of payment? or does it lower the base fare?

Basically, Is PQD affected?

It is treated as a form of payment, does not lower base fare. Not sure about PDQ as I never bother to keep track.

It's not. Just like any other form of payment.

Has anyone had any experiences signing up with a foreign mailing address? (I still buy plenty of US tickets with a US credit card - hence this would be useful, but I don't reside in the US...)

Recent thread -- http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...-disaster.html. Appears there is no signup screening preventing enrollment -- but there are use restrictions. Seems if you can live with the use restrictions, you should be fine.

It would only take 30 seconds to find out.

I'll report back on how it goes once I'm booking my next ticket! As far as I can tell I won't have payment issues thanks to the US credit card.

Two more possibly dumb questions:
- Do tickets paid for using an ETC count towards accrual (if the ETC covers the entire fare)?
- Is the "annual" fee based on signup date (and not on calendar year)?

As long as you bill the ticket in USD and ticket it in USD, you should be fine.

Sometimes CAD fares are lower, but trying to ticket that with travelbank is best done over the phone since it will not go through. The agent will have to convert to USD, and then ticket it, but huge ymmv.

Same thing happens if you try using a CAD ticket with a USD card but not an active USD billing address. Agent can do it, website will fail.

Help with which department administers TravelBank?

Wondering if anyone can provide guidance on a United department who can actually help with missing TravelBank funds from a failed ticket purchase? I was bounced around, sometimes more than once, by Reservations, Refunds, Mileage Plus, and Website Support. From the website and calls, it seems like Mileage Plus administers these funds and balances similar to award miles and other credits, but that rep did not seem to be able to view any TravelBank balance and history, neither did the other departments.

What happened was I tried to use TravelBank funds to purchase a ticket, but after getting a confirmation number, the reservation said it was processing but wouldn't ticket after 30 minutes, so I cancelled via the website. The TravelBank funds were taken immedately and never redeposited. I re-booked the trip with a credit card that did successfully ticket within a minute.

It's been nearly a week, I'm not able to request a TravelBank refund via the website without an eTicket number as the ticket was never issued. Also no department is able to look up anything under that confirmation number, so it is not considered a cancelled trip.

This is real money that was deposited in the TravelBank. Anyone have suggestions on a department I can ask for that actually can view the TravelBank details, for a start?

TBH TravelBank is a great idea, but support for it an the united.com club are a joke.

I would email [email protected]. Someone is at least reading that inbox, but I have never gotten a response.

I also frequently contact [email protected] which is web support. They often respond to my requests for missing TravelBank deposits. Good luck.

Travelbank funds upon club expiration?

My "united.com Club" expires next week. If I let it lapse, do the funds in my TravelBank remain, or do they get wiped out?

I don't have travel scheduled for a couple months, so would be great if I can postpone the renewal until then...effectively get 14 months for the 12-month price.

Out of interest - has anyone ever seen a credit for UA-plated but priceline booked tickets?

The credit card payment was seemingly done by UA (i.e. United Airlines appeared when the charge was pending, it still states United Airlines in the address section after posting). However it wasn't booked on UA.com, so under the rules this wouldn't be eligible.

(I'm not counting on it, I'm mainly just curious - this was a complicated itinerary which I had to build via ITA matrix, and it's hard to then buy those via ua.com)

Not Priceline, but similar...I booked for work via Concur (CWT), my CC was directly charged by United on 016 ticket stock (and CWT added a separate $3.50 booking fee) . Flight was ineligible to earn the $5.

On the other hand, trips I have built on Google Flights or Hipmunk actually go to UA.com, so those have earned the $5.

Last edited by wh6cto; Dec 14, 2016 at 6:41 pm Reason: Clarified: 016 ticket stock was ineligible on CWT

Flights booked on the phone with united are not eligible, 100% 016 ticket stock and do not credit. Can not imagine how a Priceline booked ticket would qualify.
