We are on the same ticket and her name is linked to mine. Paso there is always a CBP officer at counter attached to the kiosk at LAX Bradley. They have Senussi come in and chatted with my daughter but never wanted to stamp her passport or even look at her passport. I done this four or five times now. I meant to write clearing immigration in my last post.

At some entry points without GE I have walked up to the front of the line and they run my passport through the system, loom at hers and my wife's and let us through.

I may be wrong but I don't think my family is entering illegally, you may wish to check with the GE help desk. Please let us know what you learn from them. I may just be wrong.

Read the website and you would be wrong, if they let you through, it's an exception every time when wife is along for sure. The rules said you all need GE to go through GE
Q: As a Global Entry program member, or NEXUS or SENTRI member with the Global Entry benefit, can I extend my expedited benefit to my travel companion(s) (children, spouse, or co-traveler) who is/are not part of the Global Entry program?
A: Global Entry benefits are member specific and cannot be extended to others.
Interestingly enough, most of us are mistaken about front of line privilege at airports without GE kiosks. According to the FAQ this only permitted at airports with GE, were supposed to wait in line elsewhere.

I stand corrected! I will be making a change the next time I enter with wife and daughter making sure they are properly cleared CBP.

I asked when I went for my new passport sticker. I was told something contrary (as others have pointed out), which is that CBP needs to check the child's passport (stamp or not). You can't just walk through GE with a child. He ducked on whether I could bring her to the front of the line, but said he'd allow it if he were the guy there.

Why not? My recollection is that you can use any vehicle for NEXUS; you have to have vehicles registered and inspected for SENTRI, but not NEXUS. That is my recollection.

No-- with the GE card, you can use the NEXUS lanes (into the United States only, not into Canada) and you can also use the SENTRI lanes (in an approved vehicle or on foot). You can't do that with just a Passport Card.

Has anyone else seen this?

Yes. See posts 2110, 2114, 2119 and 2121. Mine also came from SFO office, not sure about the others.

Yes, but I didn't think anything of this since I did my enrollment and interview at SFO. My card was shipped with a return address of "International Terminal Arrival Level, San Francisco CA 94128."

Thanks for pointing that out. I think you're right. Under the GE FAQ it says "there are no additional requirements for a member to use the NEXUS lanes coming into the U.S.", whereas it notes that your car must undergo a 7-point vehicle inspection before you can use the SENTRI vehicle lanes. I guess that has to do with more trafficking of persons and drugs on the U.S.-Mexico border. After reading this, I think you'll check your trunk every time you head north.

On a related note, SENTRI users may want to check out this NPR piece on how a SENTRI-user was unwittingly transporting more than 100lbs. of marijuana across the border when she was arrested by Mexican authorities and incarcerated in a Ciudad Jarez jail for a month while everything was sorted out. I think she got pretty lucky.

I'd like to to gain access to the NEXUS program for entry into Canada, but the FAQ indicates you need to apply and pay separately. In the same FAQ it says that they're "...working on extending NEXUS and SENTRI benefits to current Global Entry members at a later date." My family lives in the Seattle area and I see that there's a Canadian Enrollment Center at Boeing Field, so it would be pretty easy for me to complete those formalities when the time comes when I'm out that way for a visit.

I flew from Montreal to JFK yesterday. There is a NEXUS lane, but it doesn't say anything about GE.

By the way, there was still a long queue just past ticketing, to enter the departures area. Once past that, there was normal security. Past that was Immigration and Customs, and that's where there was a NEXUS lane (marked "VIP"). The lane led to an iris scanner, which printed a receipt and told me to go the agent in the lane at the end (closest to the machine). The agent was processing a couple, which took a very long time and seemed to involve considerable discussion, paper shuffling, stapling, stamping, foisting of webcam by agent, even more discussion, paper shuffling, stamping, and stapling. More than six people were processed in the lane next to me while I waited, and the couple's processing had been underway when I arrived.

While waiting, two young women used the iris scanner and then walked right past the agents, prompting the one processing the couple to call after them and direct them to wait behind me. One of the women was indignant, telling the other that she'd travelled to and from Europe without having to deal with an agent.

When it was finally my turn, it was quick. The agent asked to see my passport and NEXUS card, took my customs form, and stamped me on my way.

There is a Nexus lane to the right that takes you to the front of the security line.

This happens when there's nobody in the Nexus line and the agent processed someone from the general queue. You just have to accept it as bad timing.

My only land border crossings so far using NEXUS have been in a rental car (I'm from YQR, crossed at Fort Erie-BUF) and no problems at all.

There was actually a line (!) for GE at immigration in Boston last week. Quite a surprise. Since I was flying at the front of the plane might have even been quicker to just stand in line. Anyone else seen this lately?

I commented on this happening to me earlier in this thread.

Can we please stop singing the praises of GE for awhile? At least until they get more kiosks?

Especially at SFO (which has only 2). IIRC, IAD had 4 kiosks when I arrived there last month.

That is why I am glad my most frequent US airport for INt'l traffic, Houston IAH, has 15 terminals now (per the CBP; I've counted at least 12) ^ ^ ^
and new seperate no checked bag departure lane.

I used IAD again a few weeks ago and a line formed behind US but they were still out in 2-3 minutes.

I am so grateful for this thread (and GE!). I had an early morning flight from YYZ to DCA yesterday morning, and when I entered the customs/passport area, the line filled all of the available space. From the discussion on here, I knew that I could go straight to the Nexus line. There were still 4 people in front of me, but as I chatted with a guy standing adjacent in the regular line, he had been waiting for an hour, so I'll take my 5 minute wait any time.
