You shall apply for infant Nexus at goes online

The rule for land crossings is unambiguous, and I would have to assume that it's essentially the same for airports:
Though hopefully processing will still be relatively quick, but they do still need to see the infant's passport... EDIT: found a more clear quote for airports: Until than, you shall use regular line or queue, what ever they say there. |

It's actually simple: I may be flying YYC-YUL-NYC -- do I get access to NEXUS machines?
I just wanted to know if YUL is like YYZ (separate area/queue for transiting pax, but with NEXUS machine), or like YYC (no transit area, same procedure as pax originating in YYC, has NEXUS), or some horrible unthinkable middle ground where there's no NEXUS! The biggest benefit is being able to jump the security queue as there is now a priority security lane for "Crew/NEXUS"... far right side of the hall. |
Land Nexus southbound crossings taking longer?
I drove into the U.S. for the 1st time in a few months weekend before last and this AM at Blaine. Friday late afternoon on the halloween weekend was very quiet (5-15 minutes) for non-Nexus. Quite a bit heavier this AM (50-70 minutes). However, both times the Nexus lane was at least 15 cars and I'd estimate it was taking nearly 1 minute per vehicle on average (some longer than others) to clear. That's up significantly from my crossing earlier this year.
This AM, was asked two very short questions followed by lots of typing. Someone in a BC vehicle before me was interrogated for at least 90 seconds. I wonder if they're recording what reason you're using to cross? 2 different agents. I wonder if there's a new policy in place or just bad luck. I'll tery the truck crossing next time. |

not sure if this is mentioned on the site anywhere, but if I have nexus, as well as my wife, and we travel with our infant, does that mean we have to ignore the nexus line, or will they be nice about it????

thanks for the advice folks.

YYZ Monday 09NOV: all of the Nexus kiosks were down on both sides of the immigration arrivals hall.
Nexus members were lining up at the CBSA Special Services desk at the extreme right side of the hall. I had been advised in YUL a few years back that if the machines were down, to use the Crew line, so I lined up one desk over to the left behind an AC FA, while there were 8-10 people lined up next to me in Special Services. CBSA agent said I should be in SS line. I said, "oh, sorry but in YUL they have us go to Crew line when kiosks are down". Agent said "yeah, I think there is a lot of contradictory information out there depending on what port-of-entry you deal with; next time at YYZ if kiosks down, use SS line". She stamped my CBSA Declaration Card and sent me on my way. |

I am sorry if this thread keeps draging on. When you drove your friends sister car, did you drive through Nexus lane or the regular lane. I just want to be absolutely clear that I do not incur any Nexus violation. I hope this driving the car matter shall be equally weighted for regular lane and Nexus lane, as this is not an immigration or customs related issue? Right

e.g., in YYC, there is a single crew & wheelchair lane, and NEXUS machines are in the line-up area for that lane, and you have to wait & pass your NEXUS receipt & customs card to that person. Sometimes they'll ask a couple of easy questions, but it's certainly not "secondary". (Why do they ask? I don't know. Maybe they're bored.) Rather different from YYZ, as most of us already know. |
It always amuses me when I see some pompous blowhard who has difficulty with the Nexus kiosk and thinks spending $50 entitles him to jump ahead of the queue of wheelchairs or crew.

And yes, pomposity or not, I expect to jump the general queue if I have an F or J ticket. :p |

And yes, pomposity or not, I expect to jump the general queue if I have an F or J ticket. :p It's not the $50 so much as the time invested in getting set up in the program and you tend to count on the fact that you're going to get through Customs and Immigration fairly quickly. If I arrive at YYZ (unlikely since I have now moved to YVR) early in the morning early or late week when it's busy, damn right I will jump the queue in order to catch my flight, since I didn't count on 45 minutes in line.... |
