I have a feeling they didn't like my answers, not to mention I'm a young guy who traveled by himself and for some reason people in general tell me I look like I'm up to something LOL.

I'll try to not let this experience bother me too much.. my next trip to Canada will be via an airport this summer, so here's to hoping that goes smoother.

Non nexus lanes = non nexus treatment

I don't even think they can see (or care) if you have nexus but don't use the lane.

I have had my car turned upside down once coming back in on a secondary, but aside from that never been an issue.

Arguably you should get better treatment with NEXUS, even in a non-NEXUS lane. (I know you're saying "what is", rather than "what should", I'm just getting on my own soapbox a little here.)

My extremely limited experience with this is that I seemed to get faster treatment showing my NEXUS instead of passport at a non-NEXUS crossing. Perhaps it gave them a bit of a reason to trust me, so they could focus their efforts on other people. It ought to, that's why the program exists.

If it makes you feel any better, the Rainbow bridge..every lane has been upgraded to a Nexus lane going into the US.

It may be slow, but they are trying

Although I don't feel I made any grave "errors", I did make a number of mistakes that didn't help my case. They turned my car upside down as well too. I just now got back from a grocery run and while putting things in the back seat I noticed that the seat was separated from the car. I was furious at first but had it back together in about 5 minutes. All in all a learning experience.

YVR Interview location

I just got an interview date for my Nexus card. I have selected YVR. Is the location for the interview on the land side or air side of security? I will be coming in from a domestic flight to make a domestic connection so no US bound ticket.

Thanks in advance for any info on this.

Land side. Opposite the United Airlines check-in counter.

If you don't have a reason for your trip then customs finds a reason to send you to secondary. Simple really. You always have a reason and "sightseeing" is not one to pick.

Very impressed at how much better the whole NEXUS process has become, especially when it comes to renewal times. Just logged in now to the GOES website and was able to book an appointment for tomorrow (Sunday!) afternoon, down in Blaine. Very handy as I intended to make a shopping trip this weekend -- by road, of course. Would hate to imagine the hassles involved in trying to fly up from SeaTac with a bunch of kitchenware. ^_^

This is my first renewal of NEXUS per se; had Canpass before that, and my NEXUS card was obtained via conversion of the old Canpass account. I will be most interested to see how easily the renewal interview goes.

Any updates on if the line at YYZ T1 is outside the door for customs, if you're able to flash your nexus card and go right in to use the kiosks?

Yikes! :)
Is this an option or can one still renew @ YVR?
I'd hate to think I'll have to go to Blaine for a NEXUS renewal. Not at all handy for me.

i don't see why not, there was one sat afternoon when i flew in, the lines were way up beyond the escalator, walked to the front of the line (top of the escalators), told the lady (CATSA?) that I had nexus, took the escalator and boom, checked in at the side kiosks and out of baggage claim in 5 mins.
