I have to say that I was always quite impressed that the Nexus machines could match me to anyone in the database. I don't actually think this is that hard though, apparently some near-term facial recognition technology can use iris identification at a distance.

I always carry the card, but it's not helpful as the photo is of such low quality. It looks like it was taken by a 6th grader with a webcam from the year 2000.

Ha! I thought only my card looked like that

My photo is a terrible form of identification

I mean I wish I could post it, it's so hilarious. The guy just sort of held the webcam up haphazardly.

My face only takes up the lower half or third of the photo box, it's at an angle, dimly lit, and slightly out of focus. Pretty hilarious.

That's exactly how my NEXUS card looks. The CBSA agent at YEG who did my interview picked up the logitech webcam that they were using at the time and took one shot. My pic, though in focus, is not even close to being aligned with the box. Have had a few TSA clerks try to refuse it as ID- they think its fake!

Looks like the same "photographer" has worked at YYZ, YEG and YUL :p

Hi everyone. Have a question for you. Early July I applied to get my newborn son's Nexus and since then I haven't received any info nor updates. I applied using only his birth certificate (didn't have his passport at that time). Question is, should I apply again? I can't update my son's info with his new passport and no one from Nexus have sent me anything yet. His status says "pending review". When my wife and I applied, we got the first email less than a month after doing it. Any feedback is appreciated!!! Thanks!

You certainly should not created a second GOES account for the same person. You have to contact the NEXUS people by phone.

Upper bound on normal time for status change post interview?

I had my Nexus interview early this morning and was told that I was approved, had my fingerprints taken and irises photographed, etc. My status is still "interview scheduled." I've seen reports that the status sometimes changes in as little as a few minutes after the interview; how long should I give it before I follow up? Normally I wouldn't be antsy but I'm flying to Canada a week from Monday, so I'm hoping to have the card (or at least the KTN) by then. Thanks, everyone.

My NEXUS is the only travel ID I have ever carried that made me look so old that it looks like a picture for an ID in a retirement home. It makes my Passport and Drivers look like glamor shots in comparison. Very poor photo that truly looks like I am trying to use my late Father's ID (RIP).

Call them ASAP. The exact same thing happened to me. Make sure you tell them you didn't get the APPROVAL notice in GOES otherwise they will give you the same story as everyone else, "The card is in the mail, if you don't get in a week, call us back"

LOL. I too had the same photographer. My wife's photo is hilarious. It looks like she doesn't even have any hair because her hair was tied back and the picture from taken at an upward angle.

I called the location where I had my interview. They asked for my membership number, checked my account, and said that it looked fine and the approval notice should appear by Tuesday at the latest...seems inconsistent with prior reports but I don't think there's anything else I can do before Tuesday without making a major pest of myself, which seems like it'd be unwise.

(I couldn't go in person because the location is hours away from here.)

Is there a way to cancel an application and get the $50 refunded? I've just read that it takes awhile for the application to be processed and am regretting the decision to apply.

Not a chance. Forget that $50.
