I'm in the process of getting a new passport. Can't renew old one as I'm changing my last name

Has anyone used the Temporary Enrollment Center at YYZ, located at 2935 Toronto Pearson International Airport Convair Drive, Mississauga, ON? Appears to be an off-site building. We are arriving in Terminal 3, and have an appointment scheduled after landing.

Hello again. Just wondering if it's easier to book an appointment, and then switch if an earlier time comes up, or to wait on booking and keep checking for a time that I want? The first available appointment for YYC is not until March! I need to book 4 appointments, so I'm just trying to decide if I book for March, and then keep checking, hoping to switch? Is it difficult to switch appointment times?

Book for March and then reschedule. It's not difficult to switch appointment times, but ones that become available tend to be snapped up pretty quickly. You'll have to be on GOES a lot to snap them up.

I think you should be planning on March, though. The chance that a block of four cancellations will pop up, at a time when you're on GOES to snap them up, seems highly unlikely to me. A single appointment, sure. Four, I doubt it.

Depending how old your kids are they might let them piggy back off the parent's appointments.

Aim to schedule the parents first/together and then bring the kids along. Worst they can say is no.

The younger they are the more likely. There's little interrogation for a toddler

I wonder if the two parents can can try for separate appointments and once they're booked, call the enrollment center and ask them if they can accommodate a child.

We had great luck on a holiday weekend -- a whole family of 5 cancelled on 48 hours notice, making 5 other cancellation hunters happy. Literally check multiple times a day when you have some flexibility coming up. You can also delay the appointment as well as move it up. The one thing you can't do is put off making it. You have a limited time to make the appointment before the conditional approval turns into a pumpkin.

Similar to what some friends of mine did. Managed to get two appointments on the same day for themselves and brought their 2 year old along who was scheduled months later.

Got all 3 done in one sitting (but it's a 2 year old, there's no background to check)

They are adjustable, fortunately. Four new machines are now installed at Calgary.

The center of the camera/mirror part has a yellow light while you're moving into position and a green light when it thinks you're in the right spot and is about to take a picture. I was having trouble getting it to recognize me even with the green light (and judging by the number of times I heard "Please look into the camera" repeated from the kiosks around me, I wasn't the only one!) -- it worked better if I leaned a little further in, beyond what the robovoice asked me to do.

The card goes surprisingly far back into the kiosk. It feels like it was designed large enough to easily accept an opened passport as well... maybe in the future?

No one has posted an answer that I have seen, so I'll bump this and add my own related question:

1. Recently married and passport needs renewal, considered changing name but fearing it will cause issues with things like Nexus.

2. Moved out of USA though still technically a resident (do not have permanent status in UK, will not for 5 years at least, if I apply). I think my Nexus may be invalid if not living in USA or Canada. That is okay as I'm not really needing it, HOWEVER I want to keep GE.

Any thoughts? Can you withdraw from Nexus? Can you keep GE status if you do?? (And will GE work, presuming I need to use a US address, i.e. my parents'...?!)

Visas, work permits, and other similar document updates require visiting in person at a Nexus office. There's usually a separate sign-in, and at least at YYZ (which is one of the painfully slow offices), updates like these are handled quickly.

This was addressed a few pages back. Personally I'm headed there tomorrow. From terminal 3 it's a good 10 min drive, 30 min bus ride or hour long walk between the two.

If you're going to take a cab, you better tip big ($10) - the cabbie will have been lining up for a long time and is expecting a $60+ fare into the City, not a $6 fare down the side of the airport... :rolleyes:

IMO that's their problem, not mine.

You will need a car to get to that location as it's at the south end of the airport perimeter not accessible by foot from the terminal. I suggest booking terminal 1 location.
