As Canada outsourced the process to US CBP, this may still be better off in a separate Canada ABTC thread or the US ABTC thread.

Correct, it is outsourced to the US. You can apply now but your application can not be processed, yet. They are waiting for signature capture pads to be installed, first

I went back for my interview today. As expected, it was no problem to be handled as a walk-in. Was asked a few questions about why I wanted the card, my signature was taken, and that was it. I was told to expect the card in the mail. No change yet in my GOES profile, but it's a pretty straightforward process now that the signature pads are installed.

NEXUS appointment trades

Is there any scope for organizing NEXUS appointment trades on FT? For example:

Have: YYZ, July 3, 15:15
Want: YYZ, July 9, late afternoon

If the two parties PM and agree on a time where they each reschedule their appointments online, it should work.

Not worth the trouble I'd think
One is better to constantly check GOES online (or get a Pythong script)

I've seen MANY slots open up 2-3 days before at YYZ, especially weekdays

Best bet is to take the first available slot (even if months away) and simply keep checking. If an earlier appointment comes up and it's a convenient time for you then take it. If not, continue to check.

It would only make sense if GOES allowed appointment trading built in where you could enter their username and both agree to swap. That will never happen though.

I can not find this info absolutely anywhere, and I'm hoping some on FT has experience with this situation. In short, I am looking to stay in Canada while my sponsorship application is being processed (CIC says processing time is 15 months, but it appears that many people current average 6-10). As a NEXUS holder I know I'm allowed in for six months, but what I can not figure out for the life of me is if like someone who has their passport stamped on the way in, can I apply to extend my stay?

I'm not an immigration expert, and it's been some time since my wife and I went through the sponsorship process, but I don't believe NEXUS really plays a role in any of this (someone please correct me if I'm wrong).

I will assume you're a US citizen, in which case that is why you're allowed for six months. NEXUS or not, anyone can come up for a six month stay. Because you don't require a visa, I don't think there is any formal way to extend your stay. You can either choose to remain here past your six months illegally, or you if you're close enough to the border you can simply exit Canada and re-enter. There is no time limit on how long you need to be outside of the country.

Your question may be better asked though on a site such as immigration.ca.

Actually, US citizens can also use the process outlined at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/extend-stay.asp.

I concur.

Anyone know if I update my passport info on my NEXUS card online using GOES, does it mean I can use my new passport with Global Entry? I had Global Entry access on my old passport.

P.S. Nice to see this 7 year old thread is still alive and kicking. :)

Should be able to. GOES Online is the US system and syncs up with them. However, I always also drop into the Nexus office when I'm by one to have them take a copy....IME, the Canadians seem to want to update the passport in person, and honestly, I'd rather spend a few minutes there to update it and feel better about it, even though other officers will tell you you don't have to.

Yes, although the wiki refers to the "Air Canada Forum Nexus Information Wiki" which is a little outdated. I really want to change it, but appears the wiki is locked (oxymoron, anyone?).

Iris Rescanning Wait Time

Due to new machines, I need to get my iris rescanned. I hope to do this at YYZ while waiting for a connecting flight on a Saturday. How long did it take folks to get there's done?

Based on my experience, you shouldn't have to wait any more than 20 minutes. Have had to go in to update things multiple times.

By the way, what new machines are you referring to?

New Iris Recognition Software for NEXUS and CANPASS Members

Originally Posted by xero9 (Post 23160769)

I received the following email:

Dear NEXUS or CANPASS Air member,

The Canada Border Services Agency is currently installing new iris recognition software that will greatly improve our trusted traveller airport kiosks. A percentage of member records were impacted due to poor image quality of their iris scan. Unfortunately, the photograph of your irises will not be supported by the new software. This means that as of May 21, 2014, you will not be able to use the kiosks unless your irises are re-photographed. For example, if you are travelling over the next 2 or 3 days you may notice your irises will not be recognized by the kiosk.

To have your iris captured you may visit any enrolment centre. Visit our Web site for the full list of centres that offer iris scanning at: http://cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/prog/nexus/location-eng.html. You may visit any enrolment centre with iris scanning capability without an appointment. Members are encouraged to avoid visiting enrolment centres on Mondays and Fridays, due to the high volume of scheduled interviews.

Please note that your membership is not impacted by this change and you will continue to receive expedited service after May 21, 2014, at the special services counter if you haven’t had an opportunity to have your irises re-photographed.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and we thank you for your patience.

Family member got conditional approval sometime this morning (after a month and a half, ugh). I noticed this afternoon while driving through Charlevoix, MI on the way up to the UP and was (!) able to schedule an interview tomorrow morning at Sault Ste. Marie. Called their office after a bit and they were able to do a 3:30pm interview today.

The office was completely deserted when we arrived at 3:15pm, and the two officers were very glad to have a nice chat with us. So if you are in desperate need of a NEXUS interview and are willing to move heaven and earth to get somewhere, anywhere, to get the interview done, a nice visit to the UP seems in your future. :D
