Anyone had any luck with walk-up interview recently? Have an ABTC application in with an interview due in October, but could go to YYZ an hour early tomorrow and be at the door at 9am.

Nexus / GE Infant

Hi all - flying YYZ - LGA on Friday with the family. 3 of us are all Nexus GE, however the baby is only Nexus (at the time of registration she was 3 months old and we were told GE was not an option.) She has Nexus, with the "No Iris" sticker on the card.

As the Nexus machines are out at YYZ US bound and the only option is now GE Machines, do I have to go through the regular lanes?

Thanks

I imagine you can use the special service / crew counter...

I'm already an existing Nexus member, however have reapplied to renew my membership. This was approx 8 weeks ago now, and I thought would have received my conditional approval by now. Anyone else experience this long of a wait during their application or renewal??

So, the answer is definitely and completely "no". At least for YYZ. Agent seemed appalled that I'd even ask...

Didn't see the original post, apologies. ABTC is a quick process now that they know what to do, but the first question I always hear them ask when entering the office is "Do you have an appointment". I believe only updating your documents can be done without an appointment.

From recent postings here I'd thought it was running about five weeks, but perhaps that was before the summer travel season inspired people to apply. In any case I know of two straightforward applications pending since 9 and 11 June (just shy of eight weeks) and they are both still sitting at "Pending Review". (Done via GOES for US citizens, though I doubt that matter much.) Reports from last year were up to twelve weeks or more, so if that's anything to go by it may be a while yet.

+1; for our baby I was told to simply skip the machines, and use the crew counters when travelling with him.

Has anyone used his/her Canadian ABTC card for travel yet? I am working on study about the ABTC program and would be very interested to hear about traveler experiences.

It sounds like U.S. cardholders have so far had largely positive experiences using ABTC fast track lanes.

Is it a long process to get the card? I noticed someone said he or she has to wait until October for an interview. That seems quite long. I wonder if it is typical.

You book an ABTC interview the same way as you book a Nexus interview, so yeah, sometimes the interview slots are months away. But, just with Nexus, if you check everyday you'll find plenty of cancellations.

My problem is that the CBP officer I met with never submitted my application. It's still showing as "Interview Scheduled" (or something to that effect) in GOES and I finally got clarification this morning that the officer simply never completed the application process after my interview. And then went on vacation. And just got back. And still hasn't done it...

I've got a trip coming up in 3 weeks and I really hope to get the card before I leave.

Is there a reason ABTC talk keeps coming up within this NEXUS thread? Is there not a topic specifically for ABTC already in the Trusted Traveler forum?

Procedural question. Both my wife and I have NEXUS. Recently applied for both a passport and NEXUS for my 7-week-old daughter. Hadn't received passport info yet, so didn't include it in Nexus application. Of course, her passport literally came the day after submitting NEXUS application.

Question is: can I show the passport at the interview, so that they may confirm it and she may receive GE benefits, as well? Thanks!
