Perfect, thanks! I know I have to go to a NEXUS center, but the interview appointments for ones with iris scan are months out. I booked myself into Seattle for this weekend ^

I interviewed in Detroit, but did my IRIS scan at Vancouver. Didn't need an appoint on the scan and it took six seconds.

On my application I identified as 'neither' us or canada, since I'm residing in the US on a H1B. Do I need to bring anything aside from my I-797, passport and California DL?

This should suffice. They just want evidence of where you are living, and that you are legal to be living there.

I was concerned over nothing. Interview was a breeze (aside from I-94 issues caused by US CBP entry officers that I'll get tidied up next week). Chatted with the 2 nice officers while they typed things into their computers, and was out in <10.

I'm hoping our renewal interviews in early June go well. It's our first renewal and I expected we wouldn't need interviews. Since getting NEXUS I've gotten a post office box in a nearby state and cross the border monthly (although it's a non-NEXUS crossing that I use), and acquired a US bank account and native US credit cards. I'm hoping those activities haven't made US CBP think that I'm a quasi-resident; all my income comes from Canadian sources.

I'm hoping I just came up randomly and it goes as smoothly as the original interviews did in 2010, but my border crossings so far have always gone smoothly so I too am probably worrying about nothing.

(They'd be done by now if we had a NEXUS office nearer. :) We're actually doing interviews at YYZ in between a departure from CDG and a departure to YQR. I've got 3:45 between flights so it ought to work out okay and I'll have to reclear security anyway.)

I just had the interview for my 3 year old daughter to get her NEXUS card.

What I was hoping to get clarification about was do I need to fill out a US immigration form and then take my family to the officer that the crews use or could I go to a NEXUS/GE machine for myself and then use that print out and go to the officer for with the rest of my family who all have NEXUS?

Coming back into Canada I know I need to use the special services line.

Thanks for your help!

You only need to prove a physical address. They don't really care which it is. In my case I could have proven US or CA and I asked them if it made a difference, they said just pick the one where you want the documents to be mailed, you don't have to show proof of both.

YMMV, It depends
Within the last 12 months I got various answers from US agents (YYZ T1/T3, LAX, SEA)

From using special lane directly, to use GE kiosks for Adults only, then latest one is to use GE kiosks for EVERYONE including infant (it'll simply spit out custom/immigration form immediately), which avoids the need for the Blue custom form << this is what I do now (in April 2015, at YYZ T3 and SEA entry)

Entering Canada, I always just use the Crew/Special lane directly

Any members here have experience using TDC forms? Just got my credit card statement, and our friends at the CBSA charged me $400+ in duty, which, given that the one time I used a TDC the goods were valued at about $300, I suspect is an error.

Any suggestions on how to get the CBSA to correct an error they made in processing my TDC? Have tried calling and emailing. Email got me a generic response telling me to call the Nexus member line, and calling got me voicemail that no-one's called me back about yet.

I noticed that when crossing the border by bus, the officer swiped my NEXUS card like a credit card.
How does that work; does it read the RFID chip, the machine-readable zone, or something else?

I'd have to guess it's reading the machine-readable zone... there's no magnetic stripe on a Nexus card and there's no need to swipe it in order to read the RFID chip.

I have my Nexus appointment tomorrow evening, but my wife just got her approval and therefore I couldn't get her an appointment so soon. Do you guys think that if she comes along they will be able to process both of us at the same time anyway? I have the last appointment of the day.

I was just conditionally approved for Nexus but my dog got to my passport.
Yes, this sounds ridiculous. Yes, it happened.

He bit a small hole into the bottom of the passport. The numbers along the bottom edge of the page with all my personal info are torn.
Fairly sure it should scan just fine, all other personal info is legible on the rest of the page.

I will go through the process of getting a new passport, but my interview is on Thursday. Anyone know if this is a problem? I am planning to also bring my birth certificate just in case, but my passport was listed as my only document on the application.

I was also hoping to pop into Canada for an iris scan, so I'm also worried about not being allowed across the border with a slightly damaged passport. :(

Sounds like you're an American, so your birth certificate is sufficient proof of US citizenship. If either agent asks where is your passport, tell them the truth, "My dog ate my passport."

Wait until you have your passport or NEXUS card before crossing into Canada.

Why does YUL force all nexus holders to speak to a U.S. agent?

Not uncommon. YVR does it too. Even at YYZ these days, you still have to show the guy in the booth your GE slip before you can proceed. Up until maybe a year ago, you'd just bypass the booth and hand it over where they collect customs cards.
