Has there been any talk about dropping the iris scan and just using fingerprints for NEXUS? I agree that this would be much easier and would make sense in terms of using the same technology.

Is there an urgency to getting the iris scanning done? Just got my nexus card but need to go to Pearson terminal one to get the scan done. However I'm flying out of terminal three where they don't have an office. Can I still use the nexus line in terminal three with just my card and passport?

Considering they just rolled out new Nexus machines within the last year with no fingerprint scanner, I seriously doubt it anytime soon. Instead, they've added the new PITA step to require you to insert your Nexus card several inches into the machine for additional verification. I actually wonder how many folks have left their cards in the machines because of this.
Isn't NEXUS card RFID?? that's why we "wave" it at Land border lane reader... GE kiosks seem easier, passport + fingerprints, no need to bring NEXUS card even |

Coming back you'll be unable to use Nexus...without an iris scan you can't use Nexus for air travel....only land/sea. And don't even try it without getting your iris scan first...would be a shame to have Nexus taken away from you before you have a chance to use it. |
Hi All,
I've had my NEXUS card since 2012. I've used it hundreds of times by land dozens of times by air since I work in US with TN visa and live in Vancouver,BC. Didn't have any single problem until this year but unfortunately I've made two mistakes in two months. In February 2015, I brought back commercial goods by land via NEXUS lane. I knew I wasn't suppose to do that but I just didn't think through at that time since I pass the border very often sometimes 2 times in a day. I totally declared the value and said it's commercial stuff but they sent me in and gave me a warning just because I brought commercial goods. They said they'll inform NEXUS office. in a week or so I got a letter from the office saying that this a warning and you might loose your NEXUS card with another mistake. Unfortunately I made another mistake today and brought back some stuff for my friend who ordered some stuff from Amazon. I really didn't ask the real value to him and just declared as $225 as my wild guess. This time they asked for the receipt and everything. To make it short my friend email me the receipt when I was in there and it turned out to be $400. They said I can not bring anything for anybody other than domestic partner through NEXUS lane and also I lied about the value. They took quite a bit time and decided not to confiscate my NEXUS. Just paid the tax and they said they will inform NEXUS office. I think they can not see my previous warning in the system since they didn't mention anything about it. And of course I didn't either since they didn't ask. My question is that when the NEXUS office gets my second warning, are they gonna revoke my NEXUS privileges? Is it possible that I just get only another warning? Any experience? Thanks |

The BSOs will only seize the card upon seizure action. A forced payment will result in the Nexus processing centre being advised. They're the ones who will decide what will happen in your case. From experience I would expect a one-year suspension as a minimum with a very possible total revocation. You're being too loose and inattentive to be considered a trusted traveler.
What can I do? Any suggestions? |

Thanks. How the process works? They will send me a letter then I have to return my nexus card?
What can I do? Any suggestions? Your history of "I knew I shouldn't have" and "wild guessing" will eventually lead to revocation. NEXUS will let you know what to do when the time comes. |

You now have shown them twice you aren't really trustworthy. You got off with a warning the first time (commerical goods, clearly a violation per the Nexus guide), and were lucky there. I doubt a there will be the same kind of luck the second time around, especially with an item so common sensical as simply declaring the proper value of items you are returning with. To be honest, I've never specifically seen anything in the Nexus guide, and I just looked again, saying you can't bring back stuff for others, though perhaps they could argue this is the case when it says you can bring back goods for "personal use." But regardless, I don't know how much they would care/question it if you declared the proper value in the first place. When I'm bringing back anything, I always know the value, and try to carry receipts, (though I've personally never been asked for those). As for them not knowing about your previous violation, I'm betting they know (or at least have access to that info.) even if they never brought it up. You got a letter from Nexus about it - clearly it was in the computer somewhere, and would be quite surprised if a customs agent didn't have access to that. |

I have no personal experience with this. However, I would guess that after a second violation, chances are your membership will be revoked assuming it is passed down to the office. I'm actually a little surprised the card wouldn't have been taken away on the spot.

I'm just trying to understand what are the consequences and what I can do about it. And about the my first warning. I'm almost positive about that they don't have access that info at the border. When I got my first warning, she filled out a piece of paper and said I'll mail this to the NEXUS office and they'll make a note of it so they don't have online access to NEXUS system from the border or something like that. My second time, I saw similar paper on the counter but it seems they didn't fill it out and didn't mention about mailing it or anything like that. I'll be traveling again so many times this week and I'll see the result before I get the letter probably. I'll inform you guys. |
Some one might be able to shed some light on what happen to me. Applied for Nexus on 02/11/15. Was conditionally approved on 02/14/15. I went to my interview on 03/31/15. Was pending for the last 10 days and yesterday when I logged into to the GOES system my nexus app vanished from my account. Anyone ever have that happen to there account?

Assuming you "passed" you should be able to log into GOES and see all of your info under Program Membership after you login (click Manage Membership to see details). |
Can anyone tell me what's the deal with US TDCs? Are they no longer required returning to the US from Canada by air? During my last two crossings at YUL, my TDC was returned to me. I realise they don't have those crappy new machines (like at YYZ) yet, but I was just wondering what's the deal going forward.
