Regardless of the origin of the application, Canada processes it first, which takes less than a month, then US takes over and take 6 weeks or so. What amazes me is that even when you have an active GE, US processing does not take any less.

I'm guessing (pure speculation) that since NEXUS is only half the cost of GE, the $50 goes to Canada and the US side is not really covering its costs so just puts the NEXUS applications at the bottom of the GE pile.

I applied on July-7th and still 'Pending Review..'. I live in DC area. With current approvals speed, I don't think I can get an interview slot at this location since it is available only for 1 week (Sept 26 - Sept 30) duration.

How do you know the order and processing time split between Canada and the US? Is there a number to call and ask?

I called them. Just contact one of the Canadian Processing Centres and they are able to tell you where the application stands: http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/prog/nexu...mande-eng.html

Applied June 25, conditional on Sept 1
Received conditional approval today.
Could have an appointment as soon as tomorrow at Landsowne ON (my preferred location, about 2 hours from home) but I have a work conflict & there are no Saturdays at Lansdowne.
Scheduled a Saturday appt at Buffalo/Fort Erie, ON (about 2.5 hrs from home) on Saturday Oct 1 so I won't have to take time off work. Sooner appointments are available but don't work with my schedule. (Wish I had the card by a trip mid-sept, but I'll be glad to have it by the time I travel again on Oct 15.)
