Similar vein…my GE expires 2/26, will be cancelling my UA Explorer card in April 2025. Planning to use the card to get the GE extension bill credit prior to April cancel. Will the 5 year extend from GE expiry date of 2/26 or the paid date of 4/25? Thanks!

As long as the Global Entry renewal application is submitted prior to its expiration, the renewal is valid for five years from the current expiration date. In your situation, upon the final approval of your renewal application, the GE membership will be valid until your birthday in February 2026.

Thanks so an extension submission in April 2025 to my GE that expires in Feb 2026, would make my new expiry date Feb 2031 correct?

Yes, that's correct. I guess that I wasn't sufficiently caffeinated when I typed my earlier response, which I have now corrected.

I'm happy to report very fast Global Entry renewal approvals for my 20-something daughters (their age, not number of daughters). These were their second renewal applications. Applied on Dec. 28, 2024, and approved on Dec. 30. No interview necessary.
No foreign travel to report for daughter #1; seven European countries for daughter #2. Both girls have stayed out of trouble since the last renewal application. I'm guessing they'll need to do an interview five years from now. Good luck, all, in your applications. |
GE renewal…
Hi, I am getting ready to renew (expiry date 11 months away). I don’t see the “renewal” button on my dashboard, any help/guidance appreciated for a very early renewal.
also, how do you/can you change your login name? thanks! |
Ok, stats time... Here is the data for my second renewal for my third membership cycle:
Applied around noon Sunday, January 5 Approved without interview just before midnight today on the evening of Monday, January 6 Basically just 36 hours application to approval, with some of that time on a weekend. This is the first time I've been approved without needing to interview as last time around I was selected for an interview (likely due to some questionable travel, but in the end all the officers were more than OK with it). This time, all my travel has been to Mexico during the look-back period. Needless to say, I am very impressed. |
Data point(s)
Teenager under age 18 Global Entry had expired a very short number of days ago. 8 January 2025 (mid-day) - applied for renewal During application process, was asked to update some information (such as passport expiry dates, guardian Global Entry info) for applicant. Early in application process, system indicated both a fee and an interview would be required. At completion of application and "payment" page, the system just sort of skipped the payment and said $0.00 due and took me to application submitted page/dashboard. While dashboard still indicated fee paid, it also indicated "wait for approval" and "[sked] appointment" were still to do items. 9 January 2025 (evening) - checked dashboard Dashboard indicated application was still submitted and under review. 10 January 2025 (morning) Email from CBP, change is status of application ... please check dashboard Logged in to dashboard, "Approved" "Global Entry" "Membership Number/PASSID: XXXXXXXXXX" [Same as previous PASSID/GE/TTP number] "Expiration Date: [Approx. 6 years hence]" "You cannot renew your membership until [approximately 5 years hence]." No mention of fee to be paid, no mention of need for interview sked, no mention whether new card will be sent out. So less than two full business days. I'll take it. |
Renewed my wife's on 12/23. Approved on 12/24 with no interview. Received the new card in the mail on 1/3. Pretty impressive with the holidays mixed in there.

My wife let her GE expire on Oct 1, 2024.
she reapplied on Saturday and got full approval today (Monday). |

where is the “renew” button on the website?
It will not appear until your birthday a year prior to the current expiration date; this message will display if the button is not showing: "You cannot renew your membership until MM DD, YYYY." I'd attach a screenshot, but I'm on my phone and there's too much PII there. |

On the TTP Dashboard page under the "Program Memberships" heading in the box titled "Approved Program: Global Entry" in the same area where the "Replace Card," "Add Vehicle" and "Apply for APEC Business Travel Card" buttons are.

GE expired 9/2024 and I forgot to renew. Sent in renewal Sunday night Jan 19, and approval notice sent to email today 1/22. I was hoping I didn’t have to do the whole interview again, whew……

I applied for renewal on the morning of January 23. I received the approval after midnight. Less than 24-hours. It's the fastest processing I've experienced. No interview was required.
