Thanks to this forum for providing insights into the process. I come here every few years based on my needs :) Now let me contribute
My travel reduced. My global entry expired in March. And I forgot. Then recently I realized that it had expired for 4 months. Applied July 10, 2025. Approved July 15, 2025 late evening. Awesome ! (No conditional approval, just direct approval). An interesting anecdote. I did travel from San Diego recently. Entered my global entry at the Southwest website. No rejection. At the TSA pre line, they said airline had not put in the information so I will need to use the regular line. I asked can you not scan my card and let me in (I had the card). Not sure if she ran the card or not, but she let me in :) At that time I had not realized the card was expired and my best guess is she did not scan otherwise she would have noticed the expiration. It was only when I was home and trying to store the card that I noticed the expiry date. |
Second renewal. Applied Monday PM, approved early this morning (Wed). No interview required. Easy-peasy.

Renewal application submitted yesterday, got approved today with no interview required. Country list since 2020 is all EU and Costa Rica. 2nd renewal...but only a 4-year extension, not 5. Is that normal? Thank you, Chase (Ritz Visa).

As noted in a previous post, I applied for my second renewal on July 6 and got Conditional Approval on July 9 (i.e., interview required). Then on July 19, I got a notification that I had (full) Approval (i.e, no longer any requirement for an interview), and on July 25 I received my new Trusted Traveler card in snail mail.
Obviously, I am delighted to not have to chase scheduling an interview, but (out of curiosity), has anyone else experienced this situation of the interview requirement going away without the traveler making any input or doing anything? |

Renewing Expired GE for Minors
Renewed two minors Global Entry recently. Both had expired but less than a year. Both were approved within 2 days. Yeah

Renewal date of March 2026
renewal submitted March 2025 - pending review Since then. Moved from being on a visa to a green card, plus international travel (EU and Japan). Question - when does the year extension kick in? My TTP page still shows expiry March 2026. |
I've had Global Entry now for around ten years, last renewal was easy. Still quick?
So, the last 2 times i was renewed fairly easily thru online (no interview only the first time I obtained it)
My GE expires July 2026, and I am traveling OCT 2025 and APR 2026, possibly the summer months 2026 as well If i apply for a renewal, isnt my existing GE still active? |
I renewed not terribly long ago and I was given the option of a Zoom interview. I selected a time in the evening, no less, and even before the start time, the officer logged on. I accidentally had left my virtual background of some garden up, and he asked me to remove that. Then he asked me to hold up my passport so he could read the numbers and verify it. That took less than a minute. He said, "you will be approved for renewal." That was IT. I happened to leave the country before I received the new card, which I didn't think was a big deal since I never have to show the card, but I double checked, and the number on both cards was the same (like Pre) and when I re-rentered via ORD, the system knew me.
Not everyone even needs an interview (some of my personal info had changed, so I suspect they wanted to verify). Honestly, I think this stuff is getting simpler every day. (Though maybe check back with me since i just did a minor change to my name which required a new passport. Now I am waiting to hear about updating GE--but somehow I suspect that will also be easy at the rate things have been going. I think they just do it so much that they have it down to a science; it's very efficient.) |

Yes. Your membership will stay active throughout the renewal process as long as you begin the renewal process before the current expiration date.

Data point: 2nd time renewal. Submitted late Monday night. Received the approval this morning. Less than 48 hours!
I, of course, was more panicked about renewing prior to expiration as I’m aware of the 18/24 month extension upon submitting the renewal application. I added new countries I had visited. All other data points were the same. |
Interesting CBP is processing renewals during the shutdown.
