If you see above, mine took 4 months. At least had continuing coverage while waiting.

another data point (timing similar to Aero137 ):

applied for renewal on 6/23 around 1p and received notification of approval on 6/24 around 10p

no interview required (but had to do one for last renewal)

Applied for my second GE renewal yesterday and I already got approved today (no interview required).

Weirdly they seemed to be actively discouraging people from applying for GE this time around in favor of just PreCheck. Not sure why when there doesn't seem to be much of a backlog.

Data Point
2025-06-25 - mid-day East Coast (USA) time - applied for renewal for my mid-teens son's GE.
For my son's previous renewal, I vaguely recalled I had to take him to the airport for an "interview" at which the officer sort of sighed and said something along the lines of "I don't understand why they called for an interview for the kid" and went through the motions of checking the kid's passport, etc.
Was not encouraging to see "Appointment" as part of the process on the confirmation screen after this most recent renewal. But, I suppose that's standard language on the status screen because...

2025-06-26 - late evening East Coast (USA) time - application approved. The "Appointment" / "Interview" requirement was now bubbled in in green color and all that we needed to do was wait for card to activate it.

2025-07-05 - Global Entry card received via USPS first class mail at mid-Atlantic residential address near Washington, D.C. Still has photo of now-mid-teen son as a toddler when we his photo was taken at initial appointment 10+ years ago.

Enrolled kids several weeks ago and got conditionally approved quickly. Did Enrollment on Arrival at ORD on 6/27 which was great because it was an empty line and let us completely bypass a long GE line.

As we finished I instantly got an email showing approval for one child. Other child has no movement and is still in conditional state. Weird and not sure what that's about or if I should expect it to change..I sent a contact request but the auto responder just said to reach out to the enrollment center after 30 days if it doesn't change. They don't have any international travel coming up so I guess that's fine but still weird.

EoA is cool though!

Another renewal data point - third time renewing, originally approved 8/12/2010, current expiration date 3/xx/26
Applied morning, 6/30/25
Received email notice of approval about 9 pm, 7/1/25 with expiration date 2031
Neither of the prior renewals required interviews

Does a renewal come with a new Global Entry card with updated expiration date?

Yes, you'll get a new GE card with a new expiration date. Be sure to activate it after you received it.

Unless a new photo was taken, photo on new card is likely from years ago.

22 hours from submission for my renewal to be approved. I'm pleasantly surprised that it adds the 5 years to the actual expiration of the old card not the date you were approved.

Oh and thanks Chase for paying the $120!

It is always five years from your next birthday.

Second Renewal

Applied: July 6, 2025 10:33 AM
Received Conditional Approval: July 9, 2025 7:12 PM (Interview required ... and currently zero appointments available at the only convenient enrollment center, and no international trips currently on my schedule ... )

Nothing but EU countries added to my list of countries visited since last renewal.

pinniped Jul 17, 2025 10:49 am

Renewal application submitted yesterday, got approved today with no interview required. Country list since 2020 is all EU and Costa Rica. 2nd renewal...but only a 4-year extension, not 5. Is that normal? Thank you, Chase (Ritz Visa).
