I’m confused. I need to renew Global Entry. I see a RENEW option but it looks like I’m applying again. Interview required? What am I missing? Do I submit a new application? Mine expires in October and I will fly in late December.
I’m getting NO APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE no matter where I look in multiple states??? if I renew in January does it extend until another January or extend to another October? If my partner and I both renew at the same time will we necessarily go to the same facility to renew or is it random? We are in Raleigh but I’ve heard stories about staff not showing up for appointments. |
If you renew before expiration, it'll extend benefits (at this moment) for another TWO Octobers until final approval comes in.
The renewal questionnaire is the same as the new-application questionnaire. |

Thanks. How do you renew if you can’t get an interview?
In response to your earlier question, Global Entry memberships always expire on the members' birthdays. Renewals are valid for five years from the prior expiration date. |

Status changed to approved hence interview not needed. Flying off in a few days time, hope it goes smoothly.

Now coming up on 9 months. I had my Senator do a inquiry with CBT, don't know if that will help.

It's now over nine months. Still no word, have a few more days before I can follow up on the congressional inquiry.

My wife applied for renewal on 1/20/23. She received conditional approval on 1/23/23. She was able to snag a Zoom interview for 2/24/23. The time she applied, there were actually a good deal of open slots for February. No doubt luck of the draw.
I'll report when I apply next month. |
I got an email reminding me that my GE will expire in May this year, and to apply as soon as possible due to long wait times. As we live abroad, I thought I'd get it in and hopefully do the interview on arrival in a few months. Applied on 29 Jan, approved 31 Jan, no interview required.

Once received we had to activate it on line BTW. Good luck! |
Just to confirm, my GE expired in July 2022, but I renewed before then. I am currently listed as "Conditional Approval" but I have not been able to get an interview. Does this mean I will have GE until July 2024 with the grace period? Will TSA Pre-check also work during the grace period? Thanks

Once you receive your new GE card it has to be activated on line before you can use by entering the security code. Not sure about TSA recheck in the interim. You can email them I think and ask. |

I'm at 2-1/2 months of waiting for conditional approval. I'm not sure whether this thread makes me feel better or worse. It makes me realize that I'm not alone in it being slow. But it also makes me realize I might need to wait a lot more time!
I didn't realize my GE was expiring until I came into the country in early November and the machine told me my membership had expired. I subsequently found a regular monthly email over the preceding year reminding me it was about to expire--but the messages had all bypassed my inbox and I'd missed them. So I reapplied two weeks after expiration. Every time I've flown since, I've been annoyed about this. Mainly annoyed at not having TSA pre; I've come back into the country three times with no queues at immigration. |
