Just my 2 cents but I think the interview (or lack thereof) is majorly dependend on the countries that you visited in the prior 5 years.

Based on my conversation with CBP officer, it sounded like it is more than that. My mom got CA in 2 days and dad still pending. No travel plus they both got their GC less than 2 years ago. The only difference between their application was name, dob and passport; besides that everything is exact even the work information.

Walk In to EOA?

The CBP agent I was initially talking to was unfamiliar with the process and told me it would probably take hours. I said I had the time. He sent me to a supervisor to find out how to do it. The supervisor just sent me back to a specific lane (that was processing some other person for a regular entry)… as soon as they finished the entry for that person, they did my “interview”. Only question asked was my address. Took about 15 minutes of him clicking away at the computer without talking to me, and 5 minutes of processing fingerprints and taking a new photo.

status changed on the website a few hours later.

the soonest appointment at the airport closest to me was November 23… so this was way more convenient!

Helpful, but I'm confused. If you are conditionally approved, can you just walk into an office at an international arrivals airport for an interview?
Did it inform you of this option in the Conditional Approval Notification? And YUL is Montreal, n'est ce pas?
Also, I'm assuming this is for GE, and not Nexus, since this is GE thread. Is that correct?
I'm also facing a long wait for (third) interview or expensive border crossing, and hoping for some other option.
Thanks!

Please refer to the following thread:

Global Entry Enrollment on Arrival

Enrollment on Arrival is a program operated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to allow Global Entry applicants who are conditionally approved to complete their interviews upon arrival into the United States or when using CBP Preclearance facilities. The Enrollment on Arrival program eliminates the need for a Global Entry applicant to schedule an interview at an enrollment center to complete the application process.

When landing in an international terminal follow the signage directing you to CBP officers who can complete your Global Entry interview during your admissibility inspection.

My wife applied for renewal on 1/20/23. She received conditional approval on 1/23/23. She was able to snag a Zoom interview for 2/24/23. The time she applied, there were actually a good deal of open slots for February. No doubt luck of the draw.

I'll report when I apply next month.

Follow-Up on my side:

Applied: Feb. 7th
Conditionally Approved: Feb 9th
Zoom Interview Scheduled: Feb 15th

One point of note: I initially scheduled the interview in Huntsville, AL for late October because there was nothing else near me. But I then spent the next day trying to see if I could snag a Zoom appointment. It took a couple tries, but in mid afternoon, there was a bunch of opening for the mid-February. So, it might be good to try to a few different times during the day.

Applied for Global Entry renewal on Feb 8, 2023. Approved on Feb 10, 2023. No interview needed. I'm kind of stunned by the rapid processing, hopefully others are receiving the same turnaround.

Seems like it is either instant approval or months of waiting.
~260 days and counting for me, clean record.

Applied: May 29th, 2022

EDIT:
Approval: Conditonal Approval March 21, 2023. Did interview on international arrival at LAX the day after.
Total days from application to conditional approval: 291 Days

That sounds about right. If the system doesn't approve you then someone has to manually review your application and clear all the flags. That's what the officer told us when my mom was being interviewed.

The Zoom interview took literally two minutes. Asked to see passport and drivers license, and asked why I visited Turkey. I was formally approved 15 minutes later. Card should be here ten days/

Interesting that they asked about Turkey, sounds like they are flagging Turkey visits. That might explain why our approval (we have Turkey visit in 2021) did not come through right away.

That very well might be. I was surprised they asked about that one in particular, as I had also visited Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Qatar, among others. I guess because of its proximity to Syria and such (though I was on the border of Iran a couple times, so surprised Armenia and Azerbaijan didn't trigger some curiousity).
