Herman says “Quack quack quack! Republic is CORRECT!”
New York Air is INCORRECT — but appears later
EWR is INCORRECT
look closely at the original description of the entire journey, with particular attention to the sequence of airports visited
there’s another hint in my reply to Seat 2A’s kickoff guess

I've just been assigned the west end of the park for a few days. We have no internet out there. Although I'm reasonably confident I could figure out the 11 different aircraft involved here by their respective configurations - alas - given my paucity of knowledge about 1983 routings which are not clearly defined, I suspect my continued participation in this particular quiz would comprise a series of tedious and time consuming trial and error type responses that would only serve to mentally fatigue anyone that checks in on this thread. As such, it is probably best that I take a step back and refrain from future participation until the next series of questions comes up - or at least until a week from now.
In the meantime, I wish you all well with jrl767's challenging quiz and I'll check back after the 20th. Happy contrails!

here’s where we stand
PLEASE NOTE that my initial response to jlemon regarding Leg 4 was erroneous; the airline on the DTW-TPA segment was indeed DL

(5) Well, I believe St. Petersburg/Clearwater International (PIE) is around 20 miles from TPA.....so let's go with People Express operating a B737-100 in all coach configuration from PIE up to Newark (EWR).
