I would like to be able to add flights for my flighty friends. For instance, I booked a trip for a friend and I and he has all the details but hasn't added it or fwd'd to flighty and its a different flight than my own, I would love to be able to manually add the flights under his profile as a flighty friend. Is there a way to force sync / refresh the plans with TripIt? I want to rely on Flighty to crate flights in my calendar, but when I forward my itinerary to TripIt, it has been taking a day before I see it in Flighty.

Any thoughts on native Apple Vision Pro support. I'm thinking rendering an actual globe into the space instead of a flat image of a globe would be so cool, especially if the globe can be manipulated with your hands, like a real old fashioned globe.

On a recent trip I found Flighty to be very late and/or plain wrong with information about two SQ flights. After the final SIN-LHR flight, which got to the gate 15 minutes early, I was in my hotel before Flighty stopped telling me the plane was still taxiing and would be more than an hour late.

I have a similar question/issue…when my flight plans change or a trip gets canceled, I delete it from TripIt but it doesn’t seem to be re-syncing back to Flighty, even after I’m seeing the change reflected elsewhere (ie my Google Calendar has re-synced and deleted the flight).

I'm wondering if anybody here has an example of a correctly-formatted calendar item that has been imported into Flighty via the Calendar Import process.

I have my own database of flights, and can programmatically create calendar events, but have severely struggled with getting Flighty to recognize the flights. They're real flights, and Flighty has them in its database when I manually search for them. But, for whatever reason, Flighty is not able to import the flights from the calendar events. I've seen scarcely any information on what would be the appropriate format for the calendar event title, location, notes field, date and time, etc. I've tried AA 101 SEA SFO in the title, for example, but nothing is imported.

Can anybody offer any help on the way these calendar events should be formatted for automatic import into Flighty? Any examples or suggestions?

Hey guys, we found a Lock Screen Widget and Apple Watch bug where a Friends Flights could freeze it. We just fixed it in the v3.4.1 update. Sorry about the delay, but very glad we located it.

It's really really not made for that use case, but you may get lucky hacking it with cyberpower's suggestion. We can't condone or provide support for hacking it like this, but I would start with: AA101 • AUS to FRA as the title. and then make sure the start and end times of the event perfectly match the *scheduled* flight time departure and arrival (don't forget about timezones!).

The market size and data for those flights is orders of magnitude smaller than commercial so that's why it's not as prioritized (obviously). When are the top exact scenarios you'd want to use it for and how?

Yes. We would not delete flight data if your subscription ends.

I understand the request, but I can see many many ways it would go bad quickly! Maybe we can add a "Delegate" permission, where you can grant only exact friend's to control your flights. 🤔 No promises, but I get the request.

We just released v3.4.1 which fixed a sync performance issue for users with a LOT of flights, so maybe you fall into that bucket? Because TripIt sync should be near instant, especially if you open Flighty. But if you do things like Low Power Mode or weak cell signal or low battery – sync will be slower to happen.

I agree it would be super cool... haven't quite come up with the business case versus the other also very super cool stuff we have planned for yall this year. :) But we have them and are playing with them and thinking!

Hmm, similar to above (low power mode and update to v3.4.1) but are you saying it NEVER syncs to Flighty?

Huh, really sorry about that. It sounds like something weird was going on... Do you fly SQ often and this was an anomaly where we were late on these 2 flights?

Oof, really? First, thank you for taking the time to reply. But second, again, oof. You're saying there's no other way to import flights other than:

1. TripIt (I can't bulk-add flights to TripIt, it's just as one-at-a-time as Flighty)
2. Calendar imports from events generated only from official airline sources
3. Forwarded e-mails from only airlines with official itineraries

I guess I'm a bit confused as to how calendar events are ingested: why would calendar events automatically created by, for example, a Siri calendar suggestion be successfully imported, but not an identically-formatted, manually-created calendar event with literally the exact same information? I am really confused about that. I really don't know how this is "hacking it," as it's just calendar events like any others. Can you help me understand this a little more? It's really tremendously important to me, and I really would like to better understand because, and I know this may sound silly to you, I have spent hours and hours and hours trying to work on this and it would just be so much more useful for me to just hear, straight up, "that doesn't work, it will never work, your only option is manually adding flights, so move on."

Is there an e-mail template for ingesting data I could use? I can certainly generate e-mails. Or is the long-discussed CSV import going to happen or is that not realistically on the road map?

I'm really just looking for help, here, and just some straightforward answers. I've tried reaching out via the support e-mail and haven't heard a word back, just automated responses.

Thank you again for taking time to help. I do love the app. I am former flight crew and this data is very important to me for a variety of personal reasons. I would not have spent so, so many hours on this, trying so, so hard, if it weren't that important to me.

Sadly not, I don't get to fly SQ very often at all -- so this was just offered as a data point.

As you mentioned you were comfortable creating calendar items programmatically... have you ever looked at using https://tripit.github.io/api/doc/v1/...method_create? It's provided by TripIt themselves and although it's poorly maintained (understatement!) it sort of works.

I only use the TripIt API to pull my data out but can't see why you couldn't use it to add flights in bulk.

thanks. It syncs just fine when I’m adding flights thru TripIt, but if I delete flights they don’t ever disappear from Flighty. I just updated the app so we will see if that helps.

I was traveling to and in Brazil the last few days, and I noticed that Flighty was not picking up incoming flights from LATAM. So, when I was waiting for my flight, the incoming flight was well on its way, but Flighty was not picking up on this data, while Flightradar24 had the correct data.
