Honest question here: Who is the target for this paid version of this app? What more are you getting of value than just the available info in free?

I am in their target audience. So much so that I bought the lifetime a year or so ago.

There’s a table showing the features available with the paid version here:

https://flighty.com/pricing

Push alerts, Live activities, Where’s my aircraft, Late inbound alerts. I could go on.

Given your current epic journey, I could certainly see the benefit for you!

I get they want to make money and such but I’m noticing they’re taking away and providing less and less information on the free version it use to show the age of the plane. But now that’s gone too. That irked me.

now I have to google other sources to get that info.

I love free as well, but it doesn't pay the bills.

As I mostly fly United, I get much of that through the app. But I can definitely see value if you're on a lot of different airlines and want to consolidate the information in one place, especially because few apps provide as rich information as United's.

It was there before and now taken away. “Pay the bills” ya. That’s not a good argument more like people will find a new app to use.

What is this mythical new app that does everything Flighty does, is as pretty as Flighty is, doesn’t have ads, and doesn’t sell my personal data?

Personally, I want Flighty to continue to exist, and am happy to pay to make that possible.

I mean getting and displaying that info costs money. More users means more expenses…that's how this works.

Do you like working for free?

Just chiming in here that Flighty is fantastic. More and more apps are now getting live activities and as I detailed in my trip report, I found Jetblue’s spectacular in places with a countdown to gate arrival accurate down to the second (!). Flighty didn’t match that. But its other features and overall utility across every airline on the planet is such that I’m a very happy early supporter and customer.

I’ve noticed that there is absolutely no data for Delta flights operated by Compass Airlines—this is a big problem for me since I have tens of Compass Airlines flights in my history. Any chance this historical data can be added?

You can add manually, though I'm sure you would like it automated . . . .

I doubt they'll add in historical data. I assume they just cache data from flights as they go forward so they probably go back only as far as their records.

Is there a way to search for flights without them getting added to "My Flights"?

Add them to friends flights?

How is Flighty for non-USA (mainly UK, Middle East and SEA) airports?

I'm mainly interested in delays, gate changes, and connection info, more so than routing details.
I currently string this together between the airline app and the airport app, if there is one, and Flight Radar (free), but it's becoming a hassle now, and I'm just tired of ads.

Also, is anyone using it PAYG (the weekly plan)? How do you turn it off/on?

Generally most things work out fine, but a lot of this comes down to the individual airline and how quickly they post updates to whatever common data source Flighty is pulling from. SQ for example, works as well as any US carrier. When flying in Australia on the other hand, QF/VX absolutely suck at this.
