I tried Flighty (mostly with European flights) a while back and had some reliability issue. Since I have a bunch of US flights coming up this week I figured I'll get a monthly subscription to check what it's like now esp in the US.
I can see the 'Month-to-Month Flight Pro $5.99' option on the App Store website, but the Euro based store for Germany doesn't have any monthly plans in-app that I could purchase. Is there a way for Europeans to purchase one month subscription? The app only offers an annual package. |
I have been using Flighty along with FlightMemory. I am not moving away for the latter completely because it has awesome geeky features like most flown aircraft, longest distance, etc. Is there any plan to add these features to Flighty? Such statistics would be a joy. Also, I am interested in getting to know the product roadmap/priority for Flighty, is there a way I can check on them? Thanks again for the fantastic app

I agree. These would be much-needed features. I hope flightyryan is listening!
We already show those in one of the home screen widgets. If you add that widget to your Home Screen or widget center thing you can view those exact stats and more. And we plan to expand upon it in the medium-term. |
That's great. Is there a reason that you are only adding the stats to the screen widgets instead of in the app itself?

if you had ever looked into the issue that ultimately led me to conclude that I can't singularly rely on your app for flight departures. I think there have been some reports from other FTers over the years that also mention something like that? That's why I didn't re-subscribe to your app last year when I flew more than any other time in my life. I don't have the exact stats with me at the moment, but it was north of 300,000 miles and close to 100 segments across several airlines.
Ie more than 50% of airlines/routes (non-NA airlines) I flew that time, the information provided by Flighty (with pro subscription) was stale/incorrect. I did side by side with airline apps and more often than not, airline apps had the latest info before flighty. Atleast then, the use of flighty ended up being a "consolidator" than real-time flight info so never jumped into subscribing. Having said that, I still like the app (it's the best-designed app so far) and log the flights or use it as an overview to see all my future flight plans but I don't see too much merit in "pro features of flight tracking". |
Agree with @lsquareand@jugaadkabaap.
Could not get myself to renew this year because of an unbelievable absence of reliability if one travels afar from the US. I understand the reasons and limitations. Just saying it was not for me for the same reasons others have said because my travel also includes flights that this app can't be counted upon for. Last straw was when I could see the boarding announcement from the airline and a delay alert from this app on my screen at the same time. And it was on one of the major US carriers.I realized no need to pay for hit-or-miss alerts. |

Hey guys I truly appreciate the feedback. Helps to calibrate our focus, especially from very frequent fliers with boots on the ground experience. While it’s impossible for me to address specific concerns without specific details, I broadly agree data (every app’s) is best in the US. But we are ramping up our focus outside the US as we mature and gather more data. (Every time you press Report Data Issue at the bottom of a flight it helps us calibrate accuracy.) |
flightyryan can you have a look at the shared flight logic? My spouse and I are on the same flight. We have separate bookings with different booking codes.
When I am under My Flights and tap on that flight, I see my booking code and seat. When I am under Friend's Flights and tap on that flight, I am still seeing my booking code and seat instead of hers. And a wishlist item: it would be awesome to be able to tap on the Airports and Countries numbers under All-Time Flighty Stats and get a list and/or a map of those at some point in the future. |

The data from Flighty is synced with your Apple ID so as long as you sign-in with the same ID on a new iPhone it should all just be there.
Just a question about how subscriptions work? I see you don't attach them to an email address but an apple id. How does it work if you use multiple apple ids (like most expats, I have apple ids in a number of countries so that I can access local banking and other apps so I regularly switch between them). If I buy a sub on one apple id and then log into one of my other apple id accounts, is the app going to stop recognising the premium features (or is it tied to a file saved on the icloud -- as you can say logged in on one apple id for icloud, while switching your apple id for the appstore and subscriptions) Alternatively, can you just tie the sub to a username and password like most other apps, so that I can switch appstores without issue? Thanks |

Thanks I highly doubt your are switching between multiple iCloud accounts (would be insanely disruptive to messaging, photos, backups) so you should be fine. |

Honestly I don't know which user would prefer to pay weekly and to lose the most useful features of the app like email import and calendar sync.
You could have left the montly plan with the whole features together with the weekly one...just say that you have found that the yearly is more remunerative in the long term, and that you just wanted to force the monthly subscribers into buying the yearly plan to have the "real pro", since no one sane of mind would pay for that useless plan. Also for people like me who have the necessity to switch between countries due to app restrictions it's really unfeasible, since we would lose access to the plan and have to pay a whole year again at each change. Will stay with App in the air...I wanted to migrate all my records and use Flighty, but it's impossible to do it without the full calendar import feature of the pro. Gosh...at least let people import the past history without having them to pay for a year long plan that they might not use. Sad to see that greed wins over rationale...evidently easy money is worth losing potential customers in favour of pennies. |
